Haahqae finds a spot to hide among the machinery. The slig walks past him, unaware of his presence, as he continues on his patrol.

===========

(OOC: Haahqae may make a sneak attack against the slig, with a +4 bonus to hit and double damage, if successful.)

(Ooc: Well that was plan A)

Haahqae knocks and arrow and carefully aims at the slig, hoping to down it before it finds out where he is.

Darga creeps as silently as he can into the chamber, attempting to flank the slig opposite Haahqae. Aware that the creature will likely attack if it sees him, he grips his walking stick tight, ready to defend himself if needed.

(OOC: Darga's move silently roll is 74, and his hide in shadows roll is 39. Since his scores for both are 20%, he's not being very sneaky. It looks like he might be using his walking stick after all.)

The two rogues move in behind the slig, who doesn't seem to be paying very close attention to his surroundings. Nocking an arrow, Haahqae fires, catching the creature right in the small of the back. It roars in pain, and spins about, readying its spear. Despite their attempts to hide, the slig instantly spots the two in the darkness. He readies to attack.

==========

Haahqae makes a Move Silently check [55] (1d100): 13, pass. He makes a Hide in Shadows check [50] (1d100): 68, fail.
Haahqae fires a sheaf arrow from his short bow at the slig (+1) from behind (+4) with excellent accuracy (+2) (1d20+7): 18, hit for (2d8): 5 damage.
Darga makes a Move Silently check [20] (1d100): 74, fail. He makes a Hide in Shadows check [20] (1d100): 39, fail.

Before the first arrow even hits the slig, Haahqae has already knocked a second arrow, which he soon lets fly, confident that he can pump enough arrows into this creature to make it stay still.

(Initiative (1d10+7): 8, Attacks (1d20+3): 17, 22, Damages (1d8): 4, 2)

As soon as the arrow hits the slig, Darga rushes out from where he's lurking towards the creature. With a snarl, he raises his walking stick and brings it down at the slig, aiming to end the fight before it can start.

(OOC: Darga is rushing out to attack the slig with his quarterstaff. He rolls a 10 for initiative, and a 14 to hit. Should his attack succeed, he rolls 5 for damage.)

Hearing a roar echo off the walls Gregeddin says to the group, "Ok, let's go!", and starts to run down the corridor and enter the room. Mustering a rousing tune synonymous with military music, "laa lahh la da daahh daaaa!" sword and torch flailing above his head, eyes searching for combat. He imagined he creates quite an intimidating sight.

Kendra has a look of dumbstruck awe as she watches Gregeddin's form run past her. "Is that even a song?" she asks, mostly to herself as she follows after the man. Though, she takes the time to put her lantern down, and draw her two swords, before she decides that it is time to attack. Being wounded, she has to be a little more cautious about how she approaches the enemy.

Gregeddin's song, while impromptu, was still rather inspiring. That was the difference in a bard and a mere minstrel, after all. The song manages to rally everyone together, to fight harder than they might have otherwise.

The slig moves right for Haahqae, spear at the ready. The shirtless gnome manages to get off a shot before it reaches him, catching the creature in the chest. The arrow doesn't sink in deep enough to be fatal, but it does slow it down a bit. The slig then thrusts its spear at Haahqae, but he manages to tumble aside and avoid it.

Darga, Bear and Coroccoco all move in and surround the slig. But none of them manage to get past the creature's tough hide.

Kendra then steps in, slicing into the slig with her first sword, then her second. Kynaston then finishes it off with his axe, all before Haahqae can even fire his second arrow. The creature falls to the ground dead after less than a minute of fighting.

"All right, that was easier than I expected," Kendra says as she moves to pick up her lantern. "Was he doing anything when the two of you came across him?" she asks Darga and Haahqae.

"Yelling in pain, as soon as I could help it. But I don't see why that matters. What's more important was what he was guarding before I came across him."

"Well this equipment looks sophisticated but inoperable, let's see if there are any clues on his person. " Gregeddin sheaths his sword and searches the fallen slig.

When he has finished searching, "think I'll just put this out of sight in case any others come wandering through", he proceeds to shuffle the leathery body to some equipment so there isn't a dead body in the middle of the corridor.

"The lift breaking was one of the first things to go wrong with the mine," Bear notes. "These buggers must have been the ones who broke it."

Gregeddin searches the dead slig, finding a spear, 6 platinum pieces, 4 steel pieces, and a whetstone.

Not counting the path they took to get here, there are two possible tunnels to take now. One to the north, and one to the east. The north tunnel seems to branch off to the west at one point, while the east tunnel seems to branch off to the south.

Gregeddin gives Haahqae the coins, "add these to the others from earlier", and tosses the whetstone to Bear "you need one of these?"
After some jabs on the air with the spear he sets it down with the body

"So, he was guarding this thing...why would he be guarding it?" Kendra asks curiously.
