Ah, I didn't notice that Tulbas had counted it. I don't always read his posts since that's knowledge that Haahqae wouldn't know in character... usually, except for perhaps in this instance.
Maybe I am reading a bit too far into things.
It appears that Arulia is a pretty poor judge of Haahqae's character. Given, Haahqae tries to hide his character sometimes, but he's not amazing at hiding things all the time.
Math to push Haahqae to medium encumbrance tells me there's between 500 and 1250 coin (assuming that he was going to be put at medium encumbrance by carrying it). However I would have imagined someone with appraisal as a trained skill would be able to tell the difference between 500 and 1200 coins at a glance. And that was assuming I knew it would put him to medium encumbrance (which you told us after they picked it up).
I suppose two times counts as 'multiple' but he didn't really argue about it, either. Nobody else did, either.
It sort of went like this:
"Let's count the coins" - "Haahqae counts the coins" - coins are not counted, no estimate of the number of coins is given
"Haahqae picks up the coins" - Yvette stops you
"Haahqae picks up the coins" - Yvette picks up the coins.
By that time I figured those coins were probably a lost cause.
I thought gregeddin was also in it mostly for the money
Yes, Gregeddin needs to earn some extra funds with his ambitious / extravagant lifestyle. The job from Magnus seems to be the way forward, however Gregeddin will take some time to consider it / stall for his allies to regain their health and strength. I think Tulbas Haahqae and Ismene would be a fun wizards outing but we could use some toughness and it would be good to connect with Kendra and Arulia, assuming their characters are interested in the mission. Regarding that point, I doubt miriam would want to help a bard run an errand for a black robe wizard...
Given how Gregeddin was turned away by norris, perhaps Tulbas will have better reconnecting with Kendra.
There only needs to be one NPC to be a DM mouthpiece, and Gregreddin is the NPC that (non-Haahqae) party members are most likely to listen to.

Well, to be fair, Arulia only met Haahqae earlier this day. She thought that he's a fool, but didn't imagine that he could be that much of a fool. Now that she knows, though, she won't make the same mistake. And really, she thinks that Greggedin is a fool, too.

I just double-checked. It was more like:
Haahqae tries to divide up the coins into piles (it was never specified if they were equal piles or not or if he planned to count them carefully; indeed, the way he worded it, "these piles are
about the same size," it sounded like he made no effort to count them at all and was just eyeballing it).
Yvette stops him before he can start by slapping his hand. (She was worried he would try and cheat her and wanted to divide them up herself.)
Arulia says there is no time, just grab them all, sort them out later.
Yvette scoops up all of the coins.
Haahqae scoops up all of the coins (ninja post). I don't bother editing my post after realizing that you posted while I was posting.
Haahqae vows to watch Yvette like a hawk.
As for Gregeddin, I openly admit I may be playing him wrong. He's not my character, I just got stuck with him. But if he was only interested in money, he never should have taken this job, as there was no monetary reward offered. Magnus just offered him a free spell, nothing more.

Ninja post or not, I did post my reply before you did, and you were shown my post and able to edit your post before posting it, which means you could have easily read my post and then decided to not change your post.
This tells me that Yvette stops Haahqae from picking up the coin, and instead picks it up herself. Haahqae can't really stop her, since the coins are already picked up, and really, she's likely much bigger and stronger then he is. All he can do is watch them to make sure they don't make a run for it.
I didn't argue against it at the time. But that's why I got the vibe that we weren't meant to have that cash. My theory being: DM's usually have their reasons, don't start an argument because arguments aren't fun, go along with it if that's what the DM wants to happen.
But that's all in the past now, the question to ask now is can we reasonably catch up to them today to get our cash back?

They left the building about 10 rounds ago, give or take. They have a movement rate of 12, while the party has a movement rate of 4. It will take you several rounds to get back to the entrance (not sure how many, depends on whether you walk, jog or run; if you walk, it will take 7-8 rounds).
With a roughly 20 minute head start, then, you aren't going to see them when you reach the entrance. So my question would be, how would you track them from there?

So, in terms of what to do with the books:
Ismene and Haahqae vote to turn it over to the Conclave.
Pen, Ne-Chanz and Gobax vote to destroy it.
Gregeddin and Tulbas vote to find a way to profit off of it somehow (selling it, using it themselves, etc.).
That leaves Arulia and Felran that we're waiting on to make a decision.

Arulia isn't concerned with the books. She wants no part of them, and thus hasn't said anything about them. If pressed, she'd likely wish for them to be destroyed or, if that's off the table, turned over to the conclave. She certainly wouldn't trust Gregeddin or Tulbas with them.
EDIT: If you'd like, I can write up Arulia saying as much in-character in the game forum.

Yeah, if you want to edit your last post, that'd be great.

Don't forget research can be used for good use such as healing. I bet Mad Melvin (Or Marvin, I forgot) would be glad to read these books. In fact many poisons in small doses can help the body.

All right, I edited my post to add Arulia's opinions on the books. Sorry to take so long to do so, work got really busy since lunch.

No problem, thanks djhyland.

Gregeddin and Tulbas vote to find a way to profit off of it somehow (selling it, using it themselves, etc.).
That leaves Felran. However, regardless of how he votes, it looks like destroying it has a majority.
The second issue is what to do next. Looks like the three options are: Fight Belzor, chase the girls, or go home/rest/level-up.
If each player could go ahead and vote on that now, we can hopefully reach a conclusion quickly (assuming we aren't plagued with ties or something).

All you that vote to destroy knowledge support widespread stupidity!
Felran said something along the lines of "we shouldn't argue about what to do with books" - which I take to mean he doesn't have a strong opinion on the matter and is fine with any outcome.
Meanwhile Haahqae's not usually an advocate of chasing girls, but in this instance that might be profitable. The problem is our party moves at a snail's pace so we'll have to figure out something to do about that.

Tulbas already voted for the chase, then return to deal with Belzor (maybe even at the same night) and only then return home. In fact I'm still looking for a way out of Magnus grip, but it's a far fetch since the Army will kill him instantly. Unless there is a chance the church will protect him if he proves useful with the Belzorites?
Dilemmas... dilemmas...

As Arulia implied in-game, her choice is to go home for the night and figure out what to do in the morning. She'd be willing, though, to try and find the girls if that's what everyone else seems to want. She doesn't want to fight Belzor in the party's current condition, and she's unwilling to stay in the complex for the night.

Was the above statement OOC? You colored it like the character speaking but posted it in the OOC thread, so... was that directed at the characters or players?
Gobax/Grubnick sees these as the instructions for turning people into mindless slave-lizards for the evil cult. He is a priest of Sirrion, god of Freedom and Creativity, that uses a righteous flame of renewal so... It seems pretty straightforward to me what his diety would expect him to do. He might be convinced it could have some use in potentially reversing or guarding against the effects, but that's definitely not going to be his initial reaction.
