CH 2: The Search for More Money

[Jenara]

"I am deputized, although they did not want to, and only for the mission we carried out." She looks at the group. "I would like to work with you, it is not often I get to work with my kind."

Giving her a smile, she finishes her meal, "I have some errands to attend to and some money to make. But I would like to know of this killer first, who they target, when.. Those sorts of things" She winks.

(OOC: She's impulsive, didn't mean to ignore you Horizon, great to have you back btw.)

Dahn taps Arei's waist "Hey, I'll be back."
Dahn heads over to the other gnome, and sits at his table"So, whare's your jeweler friend?"

The elven woman smiles slowly. "I can tell you what you could find out on your own," she says. "But I won't reveal any of my own investigation until you've lost the badge."

Taking a long drink from her glass, she starts. "Three have died so far. All are women, but beyond that they seem to have little in common. One was a dwarf and the other two humans. They all died in the same way--some kind of weapon that cut into them. All had their hearts removed, and the corpses were left out by the windmill for the wardens to discover the next day. No footprints could be found. The local cleric did some divinations, but they came back hazy and puzzling. This has been going on for three weeks now; one death each week. Hmm, and today is now Lightday; a new week begins," she says ominously.

Frisno looks up at Dahn with mild surprise. "Eh? Who are you? What friend?" After a moment, though, he seems to recognize him. "Oh, yeah. You were with that elf tramp last night. Is it true that she played Hubert like a fool? Damned funniest thing I've heard all week. He's probably nursing a hangover after drinking himself stupid. He thinks he's the gods' gift to ladies. It's pretty cathartic to see him get shot down like that."

[Jenara]

"Very ominous indeed." Arei says with a thoughtful expression, her brow furrowing, "Allow me to do my errands, and when I return, the badge will be left, my connection to the Wardens is over." Standing she offers her hand.

"Until we meet again." She smiles, switching to common, before heading over to Jocelyn.

"Sorry, it is not often I meet one of my kind." She sits down, near the woman, "I enjoy talking to my own kind."

[HorizonsDream]

Jocelyn offers a shrug in Areilon direction as if she really didn't care one way or another. "You walked off before I could tell you that she is thought to be a bounty hunter," Jocelyn explains as she finishes off her meal. "Apparently, there are some killin's going on around here, at least that is what the innkeep told me."

[Jenara]

"Indeed, I believe she is." Arei says in agreement, "Strange things happen in small towns it seems." She adds, taking up her pack.

"I have an offer on the statue, a suitable price considering." She pauses. "But I would like to show the Wardens, to show them they mean peace, not war. Are you happy to do that? And would you wish to accompany Grey and me?"

[HorizonsDream]

"Weren't you going to sell it?" Jocelyn asks. "But if you want to show it to the wardens, I guess I can go with you two."

[Jenara]

"I do wish to sell it, we need funds, do we not? Or does your god grant you boons?" She smiles, "I have no such luck, on a ship, you are paid, on the land..." She shrugs, "I need to pay for wine and baths somehow do I not?"

"Let us go to the Wardens, I need to return this." She taps the badge, "And we need to go to the Jeweler." If he was even talking to her, it was a misunderstanding... she kept telling herself that.

"Ha, even funnier when you know it was I sleeping with her last night." He declares in Gnomish.
"But honestly, I wouldn't go as far as labeling her 'tramp', I mean, when you know how women are in general, expecting that a simple flash of cleavage will win them the world."
"But I'm sure you're wondering why I'm here," Dahn continues, returning to common,"it's really just a matter of curiosity. What is it that you do exactly? Y seem to be in the business of a much more useful nature."

[Nuke]

Val awakens and rolls over. "Morning." Hanging her legs over the bed, she stretches her back. "It feels so good to sleep without worry."

~Yes, I know you get paid on a ship,~ Jocelyn thought to herself in amusement. "Wait, weren't you talking to the jeweler last night?" she asks, clearly confused. "Why didn't you sell it last night?"

"You?" Frisno asks in Gnomish with surprise. "How did you succeed where that casanova Hubert failed?"

Switching back to Common, he adds, "I am just the clockmaker. I do alright, as the people of this island are obsessed with order and getting things done on time."

"Eh, just sorta happened." Dahn answer in gnomish.
Going, again, back to common, he continues "Interesting, how skilled are you at non clock clockwork."

Frisno blinks. "I...don't understand the question," he admits.

"I mean all the gears and moving parts, I'm wondering if you can do anything aside from clocks." Dahn explains.
