"There are no temples out here in the forest," Aleaha says. "The nearest one would likely be in Silvanost, which is out of our way."

"Why do you need to send word to Palanthas?" Ulster asks. "Isn't that where we're going anyway?"

"Well.... Ummm I was sent to the Caverns to well... No one thought A Kender could ever be a Cleric, they all laughed at me. I was told to go and help.. I ummm well I never told them we were successful, they probably have no idea what happened to me at all." She blushes, "I kind of forgot."

Jeremy bows his head to Babushka, "Oh, I misunderstood, thinking that you had misunderstood. My error, I apologize." , Then lapses into thoughtful silence, all the time observing the landscape for flora and fauna that may prove useful.

"It gets cold in the desert," Imani admits. "But, no, I haven't seen snow before. I've only heard about it."

[Jerrard]

"You might like it." Jerrard suggests, "We may need to get warmer clothes though." He says with a glance to Malika, she would freeze dressed like that.

The day passes without incident, as the party continues to travel through the forest, slowly (very slowly) but surely.

Aleaha's guidance proves incredibly useful even on this first day. Just today she manages to grab Locky before she stumbles into some razorweed, warns Jerrard before he picks a flower for Malika (turns out the flower was quite deadly when sniffed), and convinces Ulster not to use some suspicious leaves of three for toilet paper.

For Babushka, it is clear that the kirath is more skilled in the ways of a ranger than even her dearly departed mentor. This forest truly is her home, and she navigates it with great efficiency born of intimacy.

When night falls, Aleaha encourages the group to continue on, wanting to cover as much distance as possible. But finally, at Last Watch, the group was just too tired to continue on and she agrees to make camp. They find a small clearing that serves their purpose. Ulster and Thuskar begin tying up the horses and donkeys to a nearby tree.

"If you wish a fire," Aleaha begins, "seek only dry wood on the ground; harm no trees. I also suggest you set a watch. While we haven't encountered anything too dangerous just yet, it's best not to lower our guard."

The party has traveled 1.5 miles. It is now Last Watch (8:00 PM).

"I don't need a fire, our rations are good to eat cold" Babushka replies. "I'm not very tired, could you and I take first watch, Aleaha?"

[Jenara]

"I don't mind if we don't have a fire. But what of the others? They can't see in the dark." Locky suggests as she takes her bedroll off the Pony. "We should make a little one, I'll find some sticks, would you like to help?" She asks Jeremy.

[Jerrard]

"You're right Locky. If we are to watch we will need a small fire. Or.." He reaches into his coin purse producing a copper piece. "Shirak." He calls out softly, speaking a single word of magic, he lets the body of single firefly loose in the air.

Placing the coin in the palm of his hand it glows with the power of a torch. "No one quite knows how long these spells last, but it will last as long as we need it. I will pass it to Imani when she takes her watch, and then Jeremy."

(Jerrard casts continual light on the coin).

To Locky Jeremy says "Well, If the others would like a fire, for warmth and light, I wouldn't mind helping gather wood."

[Jenara]

"I would like too." She smiles, hoping off she starts to collect wood around the camp. "Do you know what not to pick up?" She asks the Ranger.

"Yes, Only dry dead wood laying on the ground."
Jeremy then proceeds to search the area immediately surrounding the camp area for usable dry dead wood.

The copper piece glows brightly, illuminating the entire clearing. But as Jeremy points out, the light is cold and lifeless, offering no warmth.

Jeremy and Locky easily enough find some drywood and the woodsman gets a fire going. It's not as bright as the coin, but it is considerably warmer.

As Jerrard suspects, Malika has no interest in taking a watch. Ulster, however, politely requests to change places with Thuskar for unspecified reasons.

Happy with her work Locky sets to work setting out her bedroll and ensuring the horses are safe and fixed. She finds a large enough tree to tie them to where they can graze.

Jerrard lays out his bedroll, offering it to Malika, while laying out his own cloak nearby as he surveys the camp once more he casts detect magic on the magical items, trying to work out what type of enchantment exists.

Once he is done he sits quietly with his spellbook, eating small amounts of food.

Everyone sits down to the fire to eat and drink before the first watch was to formally begin.
