"Windows." Val says. "Windows should be easier" as she looks to the gate "And safer"

As expected, Jocelyn cannot make heads or tails of the lock. Likewise, Ouragana does not recognize the symbols on the door at all. They are completely alien to anything she has ever seen or studied, even in passing. They don't even seem similar to anything she's seen before.

"I suppose it depends on what you mean by safer," Thaddeus replies to Val. "I imagine trying to chop open the windows or using the grapple to pull them out will make a great deal of noise and grab a lot of attention from whoever or whatever might be inside."

(OOC: I gotta try once at lockpicking so...)

*Attempt to unlock the door, maybe I'll get lucky*

"This door must be really special if it stood for this long, unless maybe it's held together with some strong magic." Drav says as he turns to the others, "Unless, could this whole door just be a very realistic, magical illusion?"

(OOC: Plot Twist: The door isn't real, we are just trying to open magic air.)

"What's with everyone's fascination with this door?" Granite asks as he approaches to add his own curiosity into the mix.

Drav goes through his pack and retrieves his lockpicks. They are an artifact of his time before he was stranded here. He's never needed them since his arrival, but he's kept them in good condition nonetheless. He hasn't picked a lock in over 30 years, but if he could prove to these people he was useful, perhaps they would agree to take him back with them when they departed.

Despite the alien writing on the door, the lock itself seems pretty ordinary--not unlike those he has encountered before in the past. After a few moments, he hears an audible 'click' as the door unlocks. Evidently, despite three decades of not using this skill, he wasn't rusty at all.

Drav makes an open locks check [70] (1d100): 4, pass. He picks the lock.

"The door isn't Eonian," Jocelyn explains. "I think most of us were under the impression that we were here to collect some ancient Eonian weapon, yet this door suggests that what we are looking for might be something completely different. Though, which the lock taken care of, we should move forward."

"Not Eonion huh?" Dahn says after casting Armor on himself.
"Let me take a look."
Dahn attempts to use his read language skill.
(Though he prepared read language, chances are, it would likely serve better use later.)

Gallath readies his bow as he waits for Baeros to open the door.

Ouragana stands back and mentally prepares herself to block the door with a WEB if something threatening is behind it.

(OOC: Does preparing a spell like that shorten initiative?)

Granite looks over the sigils on the door, but he has never seen anything close to them before, either.

Granite makes a Read Languages check [35] (1d100): 89, fail.

(OOC: A couple things of note:

xelphyn, I want to point out that the Armor spell does not stack with itself. Are you sure you want to cast it on yourself again? The one you cast yesterday is still in effect.

Second, Baeros and Gallath are still behind the mansion, looking at the windows. Therefore they have not heard or seen anything going on at the front door, including Drav unlocking it.

Finally, 'preparing' a spell doesn't alter one's initiative roll any more than 'preparing' a melee attack would. It's just a bit of flavor text; it makes no mechanical difference.)

Drav pulls out his shortbow (Sheaf) and gets ready. "Since the door doesn't look Eonian, could that just be because the place is fairly secluded?"

*When the door opens, he looks for any sort of balcony/upper floor where someone could be hiding*

(OOC: We should probably figure out when and where we are, then we don't talk to people that aren't here. It's really confusing)

Baeros looks at Gallath, "Why didn't the rest come with us?" he asks confused. "If you climb on my shoulders, will you reach the window? We should try to break it."

Ouragana thinks for a moment, then answers.

"The artefact that told us about this place was Eonian, so this writing being different may mean either of two things: It could be that this house is from a different culture altogether, or these doors could be a later addition." Frowning, she turns to Thaddeus. "Do you remember if there was any explanation about the culture that built this?"

"As far as I know," Thaddeus replies, "the Eonians did. The map we found was Eonian, it was abandoned when the empire fell, and the man who owned it was Eonian. So perhaps that means...whoever installed these doors came after? Maybe it's a warning or an explanation of some kind. If only we could decipher these symbols."

Baeros and Gallath (Back of the Mansion)
The two look up at the window. It's about ten feet off the ground, so if Gallath stands on Baeros' shoulders, he should be able to reach it. However, without an axe or similar tool, one wonders how he'll break through the boards that are covering up the window.

"I did prepare read magic, If you think I should use it here, I will." Dahn offers, reluctantly.
"I was thinking of saving it for something that looked more important than a door, though.'

(OOC: Oh, I wasn't aware that it would still be in effect, thanks for the heads up.)
