CH. 10: Queen of Harts

"If everyone is okay with going to Mond, then I'll seek out Saren and his crew to let him know," Jocelyn says.

"I'm fine with that." Bearos says. "Maybe if we have time there I'll visit my home."

(OOC: How long do we expect the journey to take? Baeros would buy rations for that time and also some fruits and wine for the first day out.)

"I'm nearly packed, we can set out when you say so. Bearos, I will give you your waterskin if you stay here for a moment."

(Is Ouragana out of encumbrance then?)

"Mond is ok with me too, I have never been there before." Val replies. "Make the arrangements, and I will have some supplies sent to the ship."

(OOC: How long the journey will take depends on the speed of the ship, competency of the crew and the weather. It is 150 miles, roughly, from this island to Mond. Meals and water are generally provided in the mess hall, though.

Even giving Baeros his waterskin back, Ouragana will still be 0.5 lbs in light encumbrance. If she can lose that last half pound, she'll be good.)

"All right," Jocelyn says. "All of you seem to have all ready been out today, so I'll be back in a little bit."

Jocelyn takes her leave of the inn, and heads down to the harbor to look for the Seleya.

OOC: I guess paying the bill in the Queen of Harts will take care of Ouragana's encumbrance problem!

"So we#re ready to pack up, pay our bill here and leave?" Ouragana asks aloud.

"Jocelyn! Wait!" Baeros cries after her. "Let me accompany you. Protection, remember? Besides, I guess you would also gonna visit Octhanus temple and I'd like to be there with you contribute small amount of money for the help you provided doing our journey."

Areilon sighs. "I suppose so, Oura," she says. "Although I wouldn't mind staying longer. Oh, well. Come along, Andar. We need to collect our things and settle our bills." The pair head upstairs.

Jocelyn and Baeros head down to the docks and after inquiring with some longshoremen, are directed toward the Seleya. It's a caravel ship--nowhere near as large as the Bullring, but a pretty good ship nonetheless. They are well known for their reliability and safety, even during extended sea voyages. Indeed, until the galleon was invented, caravels were considered the best of the best.

The Seleya has three masts and is around 70 feet long and 20 feet wide, boasting multi-level castles in the fore and aft sections of the ship.

Saren himself stands on the docks, watching the ship be loaded up with supplies and speaking with his first mate, the red-haired woman Elisa.

Ouragna joins Areilon and Andar in settling her bill and going down to the harbor.

Jocelyn glances over to Baeros. "I had decided not to stop by the temple because the person I wanted to see isn't there," she says. "But if you want to pay a visit still, you are more than welcome to," she adds. "We can go there after we are done making the arrangements here." She turns her attention to Saren and Elisa. "Good morning," she says with a light smile.

Val decides to take another tact. "I want to go shopping for some trade goods. Something that might be profitable on Mond."

"Err... Well, no. I just thought you being Octhanus priest and stuff, you would feel obliged to visit there. Maybe some other time. I like the docks much better. And so does the dogs." he smiles watching them chasing each other.

Ouragana, Areilon, Andar and Val (Queen of Harts Inn)
After collecting their things from their rooms, Ouragana, Areilon and Andar return to the front desk to check out. After turning in their rings, they are presented with a bill.

Areilon covers Andar's tab as well as her own, which comes to a total of 22 gold pieces.

Ouragana's tab comes to a total of 8 gold pieces (5 GP for the room, 1 GP for the cheese/bread/fruit plate, 1 GP for room service, 4 SP for the herring, 1 SP for the steamed vegetables, 1 SP for the tea, 1 SP for the wine and 3 SP for the stew). At a normal inn, she might pay that much in an entire week instead of a single day.

Saren and Elisa stop whatever conversation they were having and both turn toward the cleric and ranger. "Ah, you finally arrived," Saren states, placing his hands behind his back. "I expected you to stop by hours ago. We were just getting ready to depart. Have you chosen a destination or made other travel arrangements?"

"We've decided that we are going to go to Mond," Jocelyn says. "Is that okay?" she asks. "And before departing, I need to gather up the rest of my people as they are taking care of a few things." Plus, she knew she needed to pay her tab at the inn as well.
