Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"Good morning Sierra. I am more at home in the water, than on land. I am just happy to leave that island without leaving any bodies behind. At least we got what we came for. Now I suppose it is off to chase pirates."
Val stands and look deep into the breeze.
"Maybe we can tie up the others loose ends."

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
Jocelyn walks up to Brock, and stands beside him to watch the island slowly disappear. "The priest is asking the flock for help," she says softly. "To save my life, the plan is to get rid of the pirates," she says. "But that doesn't match up with Octhanus very well. Is there a peaceful solution to this?"

Jocelyn Blaine (Aftcastle)
"A flock of one, eh?" asks Brock. "Are you and me really the only ones in this group who are follows of Octhanus?" He shakes his head.
He shrugs. "Anyway, isn't it supposed to be the other way 'round? Flock seeks guidance from the shepherd, the shepherd don't ask help from the flock. Especially if the flock is me. I don't know much except how to run a tavern and what part of the axe goes into the bad guys." He sighs. "To be honest, I don't know what to tell you. I'm new to Octhanus. I grew up worshiping Gonto, and all this 'peace and love' stuff is foreign to me still. You need to talk to someone who's more of an expert on this kind of thing. That Saren fellow seemed to know what's what."
Val Urgan (Crow's Nest)
"Oh? And what other loose ends are there besides the pirates?" asks Sierra. She turns away from the island. "As for me, I just like to enjoy the view now and again. One of the perks of being captain." She stretches her arms a bit. "Is that why you wander with this group? To stay at sea as much as possible?"

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"Yeah, he did," Jocelyn admitted. "But I don't know where he is so I can ask him," she adds thoughtfully. "But asking to go back to Mond to look isn't a bad idea I guess."

Ouragana blushes, which with her milky white skin just gives a shade of soft pink. "Excuse me, Madam" she just manages to say and turns hastily away. She walks to the bow of the ship, standing as much to the front as she can without disturbing the crew. She lets the wind cool her hot cheeks, that was always where she could think best. But thinking was so difficult now...
Terra had been right, she just could try to find a nice place somewhere, but where? The only place where she had felt comfortable was the Academy, but she would be totally out of place there now. Maybe she should return to the place where she grew up and share the riches with her adoptive parents... if they were still alive, and would take her in.

Jocelyn Blaine (Aftcastle)
"He might still be there," Brock speculates. "It's only been two weeks since we parted in Deimos, and I doubt the city is in much better shape by now. Even if he's not there, that's the best place to start looking. And it's on the way to Draska. But until then, you can always round up the others and talk to them, too. One of 'em might have an idea."
Ouragana Stormbride (Forecastle)
Ouragana heads to the bow as far as she can, climbing up onto the forecastle. The 'cannon of light' sits there. After thinking a few moments, she realizes that someone is behind the cannon, working on it. Thaddeus' red hair makes an appearance as he stands up. "Oh, good morning. I didn't hear you approach," he says, wiping his hands on a rag; he had some kind of grease on them. "The captain's set me on figuring out how this thing is supposed to work already. All I know so far is that it doesn't use conventional ammunition. Have you spoken to Pastor Blaine yet about your curse?"

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"I guess I can try that, but I don't think any of them follow Octhanus," Jocelyn says. She knows that Val would be up for a fight against pirates. Baeros would, most likely be the same way. The others, she wasn't so sure about.

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"That, and I really don't want to return home. My tribe is, let's just say. a little backwards on some of their views." Val peers off into the distance, "Not that I wouldn't mind seeing a couple people."

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"No, I haven't spoken to her yet" Ouragana admits. "I can't pull my thoughts together at all, I'm such a mess! and I can't help you either" she says with a sad look at the cannon and Thaddeus's work. "I'll go and find Jocelyn" she says and turns around.

Baeros wakes up. Sleeping didn't help much improving his mood. He hears the crew shouts when maintaining the ship, put some blankets over his head and tries to sleep through the voyage back home.

Jocelyn Blaine (Aftcastle)
Brock shrugs. "I suppose that's the Gontorian way, anyhow--turning toward one's community when in need. Sorry I can't be more helpful."
Ouragana Stormbride (Forecastle)
Quickly turning away from Thaddeus, Ouragana climbs down from the forecastle. She can see the telltale blue of Jocelyn's vestments over on the aftcastle. She is standing there, speaking with Brock about something.
Val Urgan (Crow's Nest)
Sierra nods. "Sounds like my own people. Let's just say, there was a reason Terra and I ran off from home to become mariners instead of staying home and raising a family like our parents wanted. Who did you wind up leaving behind?"
Baeros Axewielder (Crew quarters)
(OOC: Is Baeros aware that the return voyage will take a week?)

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"It's okay. You gave me a little bit of an idea on what to do," Jocelyn admits. She places her hand on his shoulder, then turns to walk from him only to see Oura approaching. "Hi," she says.

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"My birth mother, and a couple of friends, though as a half breed, I was still an outsider" Val answers. "It's history now"

Re: CH. 14: Beyond the Veil
"Hello Jocelyn" Ouragana says with a weak smile. "I messed something up, and I think you should know." Hastily, she adds: "It's just me, no one else is hurt."
After a deep breath, she continues. "A book I took from the mansion had a curse in it. I can't do magic any more. And I can't put together a sentence in Crizzan or Kobold either. I've become plain stupid." She swallows the lump in her throat and goes on. "Thaddeus says there might be clerics who can lift such a curse. Do you know someone?" With tears glistening in her eyes, Ouragana looks at Jocelyn pleadingly.

==========================
(OOC: Baeros is aware of this. That's was the best description I could come up for his emotions, playing his grumpy mood.
He crossed a point with Jocelyn he can't take back. He is distressed and currently trying to avoid everyone.
He knows that eventually someone will look for him or his hunger will compel him to crawl out of his hidings.)
