I'm thinking Pyros has been perceived as a child quite a bit in his travels, so while funny, I don't think it will phase him all that much.

It is quite funny though, I wonder how much stuff he has picked up just on the way to this shop...

With my first pass through the character sheet for Artanis I have the following requests for tweaks in the character. Especially as it appears he never actually started the adventure other than an couple of dialogs.

He's terribly short of funds, but overly stocked with weapons.

Remove the Club Weapon Proficiency
(I have not determined what to add back in it's place yet. Possibly dagger or scimitar)

Remove the following weapons and add the money back to his account for them:
Club
Hand Axe
1 Dagger

Remove the Religion (Faerun) NWP and replace with Local History NWP (Charisma 15)

Completely ditch the dog and all associated equipment with it. And any mention of the dog in the background.

Hopefully this adds some funds to him - not much, but some.

What is the Wilderness Harness? If it was for the dog, it's gone.

How much did the +1 Studded Leather Armor cost that he has listed?
Would that be more or less than Bracers AC6 or Bracers AC5?

I have no idea what a Shadoweir is.

That's my first pass. If it's too much of a pain or consumes too much of your time, I can copy and paste the character, tweak on Word, and then submit to you.

I can make the nwp change, but Local history would apply to your homeland (Faerun), but not Ravenloft.

Shadoweir is a specialized class combo. It is only available to half-elf devotees of Mielikki, and it's the only way to get the druid/ranger class combo.

I will make the following changes:
- club wp
- club. -- free
- hand axe. 1 gp
-1 dagger. 2 gp
- guard dog. 20 gp

So you have 23 gp back and. Unused WP

For you to consider further:
Wilderness harness is for the guy, it has lots of little pouches for ammo and stuff as well as a 6" knife. It's only 2gp, so you wouldn't get much back for it.

The +1 to his armor was his magic item (500 xp value)
An equivalent xp value pair of Bracers of Defense wpuld be AC9, which doesn't exist so they can't be used. If you wanted, you could apply the +1 to a weapon or different armor you can afford, or select a different magic item option. Check out the Equipment section in Rules and Guidelines for those options.

He paid 20gp for the base armor.

No point in keeping too much gold...

It's not like it is going to stay in your pouches!

I want to have some gold for food, lodging, etc. :D
Plus it lightens his encumbrance some too.
I'll keep the Wilderness Harness

Understood with the Local History NWP applying to Faerun. But at least with it, as he travels around Ravenloft, he'll have the capacity to learn and remember things like taverns, shops, roads, that sort of stuff. He may not know who owns the tavern, but hopefully the NWP will give him a chance to remember where it is located and how to get there.

Make the open WP for a dagger.

I was a little confused with how the costs of magic items is implemented - So he bought the base, normal Studded Leather Armor for 20 gp, then made it +1 Studded Leather for the 500 exp value?

Sounds good for the wp and nwp.

Yes, that is how we did the magic armor. It's detailed in the rules forum, but basically you have to be able to afford the base item, then you can apply the bonus. It was a way to prevent starting chars from nabbing +1 full-plate ;)

I follow the thought process now. "I'm smarter than the average bear". (If you know where that came from, you're probably old like me)

I'm going to:
Drop the +1 Studded Leather Armor, 20 gp, 15 lbs
Add Leather Armor, 5 gp, 15 lbs
Drop the Club, 3 lbs
Drop one Dagger, 2 gp, 1 lb
Drop the Hand Axe, 1 gp, 5 lbs
Drop the Dog pepper packet, (Can't recall weight off top of my head)
Drop Longbow, 75 gp, 3 lbs
Add Shortbow, 30 gp, 2 lbs
Drop 60 Sheaf arrows, 30 silver pieces, 6 lbs, Damage 1d8; Not sure if can use sheaf arrows with a shortbow. :? If can, I will keep them. If not, the next line applies.
Add 60 Flight arrows, 15 silver pieces, 6 lbs, Damage 1d6
He already has a Longsword. I will make that a +1 Longsword. (I honestly don't know if magic weapons are lighter than normal weapons. I know armor is, but don't know about weapons.

Looks like I dropped 10 lbs from his encumbrance and added 83 gp (Includes subtracting the dog). If that is correct, I'll refine his equipment even more.

Spells:
Cure Light Wounds x3; Entangle

Thank you for your time and efforts. I appreciate it.

Alright, Yogi… (I turned 32 this week)

The dog pepper weighed 0.1 lbs and you got 1 sp back for it. (it is designed to irritate/stall dogs tracking your scent)

I think short bows technically only fire flight arrows per the Arms and Equipment guide.

Magic weapons aren’t necessarily lighter, but they are 1 speed factor faster. I made a note.

You now have
87gp 16sp
46.2 lbs of encumbrance with your pack on (45 or less for unencumbered)

Check the stat block on the first post of the “Artanis Auir” thread to make sure I got everything so far.

Happy to help

Would Pyros gain any more language check % if he actually pays attention more?

not really. It's just 1% per day. You can take language lessons from a local and increase your score a bit. Or if you spend an NWP slot you could speak it fluently. I think Yasir still has some language slots left, he could use one of them, but he'd have to find a local to teach him and it'd take a while to pick it up in game-time.

The other option is that Mira could teach you phrases. She'd make a lang check to say it correctly, then you make an Int check to retain it properly, then another Int check each time you use it.
