Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
now that I look at it, it seems the Regenerate Light Wounds spell in the Priest Spell Compendium only lasts 24 hours. she could have cast it just before bed last night perhaps, if that works for you.
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
PSC2 p486, para 2, second sentence: "If the regenerative power is not fully used within 24 hours per caster level, then it ends without further effect."
But sure, end of yesterday would be fine.

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
oop! dunno how but I missed the 'per caster level' bit. Ok, sounds good
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
While she's at the paper-maker's place, Jerry will try to use the opportunity to practice Harmonian.
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
As they approach the Glass Eye Jerry gently squeezes Merrick's arm, "You're so good at this. I'd just be lost without you."
Without any further explanation she urges him inside.
"Please, do show what you have," Jerry replies politely to the waistcoated merchant.
She's happy for a whistle-stop tour through the things for 'practical and dangerous pursuits' and then a look at the jewelry (edging it it towards the 25gp value) and thence on to the old books.

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
The shopkeep shows them to a section where there is an impressive array of unusual equipment perfect for climbing, exploring, trapping, or dozens of other adventurous pursuits [Basically dungeoneering equipment within reason]. There is also an array of both decorative and functional weapons, some not terribly common looking (small array of exotic weapons).
The jewelry is by far the most diverse area of the shop's collection, boasting rings, bracelets, necklaces, broaches, jeweled hair combs, finely wrought hair nets and the like. Jerry notes that Merrick is glancing at an assemblage of silver pendants.
Jerry glances over the books, but the main of them are in that local language. Merrick notes her interest and shares that they appear to be a variety of subjects from local histories, rare editions of fictional works, a few on music, and theoretical volumes on various mundane sciences.

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
While browsing around the various items Jerry tries to discreetly, unseen by Merrick, assemble 10cps, 9sps & 24g. (If this is a difficult thing to do on the fly then being a bright girl she'd maybe have sorted the coinage earlier).
She attempts to divert Merrick with a plausible, "Would you be able to check whether any of the books on music give any insight on any mystical effect or influence that it has in this place? While you're doing that, I'm going to have a bit of a look at the climbing equipment*." When she's sure he's started to bury his head in one of the books she moves across to the shopkeep, gains his attention. Shielding her actions with her body Jerry points at a medium size silver pendant featuring a small green stone and holds up a gold coin in one hand and flashes her other four fingers and thumb five times to indicate that she wants one costing 25gps and gestures with her head to indicate that it is for Merrick. If the shopkeep shakes his head she'll move down the pendants in size until he nods. She tries to pay him discreetly and takes the pendant, quickly putting it out of sight.
If Merrick is still skimming music books she goes back to him and rests her chin on his shoulder, whispering, "OK, nothing here for me. Will you be ready to go soon? I'm feeling a bit tired from all the paper-making." If she's found anything significant, e.g. a map or piece of lore, Jerry will try to run a Copy of the page.
======
*Or whatever else is plausible and near the silver pendants.
The plan is:
Go back to their room and then send Merrick off on short errand, maybe to get some water, citing how tired she is and disrobing as he leaves.
As soon as the door closes behind Merrick, Jerry will, if not already done so, expend Colour Spray & Copy and then cast Nap (CT2; 1h duration)and and go to sleep on the bed.
Awaking refreshed (as per 8h sleep) if Merrick is awake she'll send him off on another errand which is long enough (10-15mins) for her to memorise Protective Amulet.
She then memorizes Protection from Hunger & Thirst, it being fine if Merrick is present for this.
Then get ready and go down for a meal & the Reg Gypsy's performance.

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
Merrick gives her a dubious look regarding the book request, but searches the titles for her anyway.
She signals Chales, the shopkeep, apparently unseen by her fellow half-elf. The purveyor lays a finger aside his nose to indicate he understands and casually adjusts a small stand of silver necklaces in passing. There she finds a pendant similar to what she is looking for, a triangular knot-like object with green amber set in the center. She and Chales deftly make the exchange just as Merrick turns back to report that there is nothing even remotely similar to what she was looking for. I did spot an interesting horticultural document on Meekulburn berries, which they make the local wine from.... did you know they are only considered ripe 3 days a year!?
As the pair are leaving, Chales gives the priestess a nod and a wink at the secret transaction. He calls out Come back soon, you two. If you’ve anything you’d like me to keep an eye out for, don’t hesitate to ask.
Coming back to the inn, the pair find the others have all just returned but there is no immediate sign of Elsa or Mira; though they are likely upstairs. Jerry quickly goes up to rest (and cast her spell) sending Merrick off on a small errand. An hour later she revives refreshed, finding Merrick gone and settles down for study; finishing not a moment too soon as Merrick returns to check on her just as she tucks it back away.

The priestess washes, rededicates herself to Mystra, hugs Merrick with a promise of "Later..", dresses and fixes her hair, the latter with a Cantrip:
"Hair Astray, Be tidied this day!"
Giving the other half elf a kiss and another hug she indicates the door, "Shall we?"

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
Come the morning Jerry wakes and stares happily at Merrick until he stirs, "Good morning, sleepy!" She nuzzles his chest and then rolls back, reaching under the bed, "What's this?" and passes him a pouch containing the silver amulet and small green gem infused with 'Protection from Colour Spray'.
WHen he opens it, she sofly says, "Happy Birthday, Merrick!" and then tells him what it is.

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
On morning of March 3rd, Jerry memorizes:
1. Colour Spray, Magic Missile
and prays for:
2.Spiritual Weapon
======
The retrofit:
Fine all this was achieved while "slipped away", but original plan was, post bardic performance, to tire Merrick out in the traditional way and, once he'd gone to sleep, to do the two spells. Then she goes to sleep in the usual way so as to replenish her spells in the morning.
Short version is that Merrick's present is now a Protection against Colour Spray, and additionally Jerry has Prot Hunger and Thirst back in place from sometime in the evening of March 2nd.

was to include casting Protective Amulet (for Merrick's birthday present and also Prot from Hunger & Thirst (on herself).TristenC wrote:Ok, we can say she slipped away to do that
