Big point of note! We need Goldmoon to heal us this time!

Actually it makes sense that we would forget, imagine living your whole life having to recover from every wound naturally? The situation they were in would cause them to focus on other things and this forget they had a cleric.

I did what I could. She only had one cure spell memorized remaining, though, plus the lay on hands ability. The rest will have to wait for the next day.

But yeah, the Blue Crystal Staff sure would come in handy right about now.

Goldmoon has the burden of being the only cleric of light in the whole world right now. Once she makes some converts, it will make things easier for her.

Well, you didn't have the Disks of Mishakal with you at the time.

He didn't sound interested in looking at them, even if she had had them available.

And being the box of band-aids is not a bad thing of course, but it's not a training of creative spell use. I was hoping for that to train myself for playing a magic-user in some future campaign, who has to rely on creative spell use to survive...

To be fair to Elistan, Goldmoon didn't even mention the Disks to him until moments before the elves attacked, and by that point, there wasn't really any time for talking.

But...as far as healbots, go, it's been my experience that most clerics are sort of forced into that role anyway (even if they don't worship a deity of healing), except in games where there's more than one cleric (or other source of healing) or in games with high mortality rates. Of course, nobody's forcing you to do anything. You can focus more on creative spells if you like. The party can just try to learn to not be so reckless all of the time. (For instance, the vast majority of the party's current injuries are because they kept charging into puddles of acid or using lethal melee attacks on kapaks even after it was established what their death throes are.)

I went ahead and removed Sunstar and Raven-eye's stat blocks. After some thought, I've decided they went with the refugees to help them find safety. This allows me to write them out of the party, and thus have two less NPCs to worry about and keep track of.

Laurana was going to suggest that, just forgot! At least they have some warriors with them then.

Will reply properly later this evening. And in relics.

The alternative to combat is... :) Not being snarky here, I am just asking what other choices are open to us in a battle since the party is being asked to think of one. And, I have no idea what we could do differently in combat outside of fighting.

You called us reckless for fighting in combat. Not sure what else we can do... I am not trying to start a fight, just wondering what you expect.

Meta game, the party has acted to the best of their ability given the characters. The melee fighters have no other choice other to get close. Ranged fighters stayed at range.

I...didn't say the party was reckless for fighting. I said they were reckless in the way they fought. In the tavern battle, which I cited, a number of PCs kept stepping in the acid puddles instead of trying to avoid them. What made this particularly egregious is I had a battle map which showed exactly where the acid puddles were, which I updated every round.

Also, not a single person tried to use non-lethal attacks against the kapaks, so to knock them out instead of killing them--as killing them only produced more acid puddles.

I think, if the party had taken better care to avoid the acid puddles and use non-lethal attacks against the kapaks to knock them out instead of killing them, they would have taken considerably less damage by the end of the fight.

That aside, I have to play Tas as disappointed with zee elves at the moment. Racism takes away from the beauty of the place.

Yeah, racism is a pretty big theme in Dragonlance. Everyone's racist against everyone else. The elves are racist, the dwarves--the humans, the gnomes, the minotaurs, the ogres.

Actually, I think only the kender are, in general, not racist. (At least, not out of bigotry--possibly out of ignorance, though).
