CH. 13: Resident Evil

[Nuke]

Val is a little concerned as the transformation takes place, but relaxes a bit as things go ok, "Yeah, we need to find what that key is for"

"But the access to the chessboard is still behind the webbing, and we still have two doors on this side" Ouragana reminds the group. "And we should check if there are more trigger plates in the hallway, too. There are still two guardians left."

The party steps back out into the hallway. To the east, the webbing still traps the animated armor and blocks off any further passage that way, including the chess board.

To the west is the end of the hallway, with two more doors. The door to the south is flanked by a pair of suits of armor, but the door to the north is not.

"So, do I need to cut an armor apart now? Or are we talking a different approach," Drav says looking at the rest of the party.

"All right, those of you that can check for traps, do so," Jocelyn says, pointing towards where the other two armors are standing. "We'll check the doors there before going back to the armor that is trapped in the web."

[Nuke]

"maybe if we dismember it before it is activated...." Val trails off.

Before exiting the room Baeros tries to return to his human form. When he is back he immediately checks his cloth. Happy to find he has nothing to be embarrassed about he smiles to the others and says, "Wow! That was amazing! You should all try it yourself! The senses becomes so sharp that you see the world completely differently." he takes off the cloak and asks, "Anyone wants to try? But I warn you, don't sniff Brock or Val for two long or you will pass out." He looks at them both with amusement in his eyes. "You must know this, I didn't sense Hopper anyway near, but something alive was in this room recently, smelling of brimstone so it's either the hounds or something else from the Abyss but we should be careful as they are patrolling this place."
His eyes then rest on Jocelyn for a long moment, trails off to her hand but he says nothing more.

[Nuke]

Val speaks up "I would try the cloak, it might be worthwhile some time."

Val slings the cloak about her shoulders and concentrates on a canine form and awaits the result.

"Honestly, I don't even want to touch those things," Jocelyn admits to Val. She turns to look at Baeros, and smiles slightly towards him. "Being a wolf seems to fit you. Could you have tracked that other person?"

Before leaving the study, while Val tries out the cloak, Ouragana takes a closer look at the books that have not yet disintegrated. Do any of them look like they have been moved recently, e.g. by whatever left behind the smell Bearos talked about? And is there any book title that catches her attention? does anything look like a spellbook?

Val tries on the cloak and her transformation is identical to Baeros'. She, too, picks up the scent of brimstone and rotten eggs.

Ouragana looks over the bookshelves. None of the books appear to have been moved as far as she can tell. Indeed, the books are so old and fragile that touching them at all makes them crumble to dust. Most of the intact books have titles written on the sides in Eonian. Many are books on history, magic and even some fiction. One does catch her eye as appearing to be a spellbook. It's simply entitled "Spells."

The others move out into the hallway and are just in time to watch as the webbing spell's duration ends. The webbing disappears, freeing the animated armor with the scimitar. It begins to move toward the party silently.

Ouragana's Web spell ends.

(OOC: Speaking of durations, Ouragana's Shield spell is still in effect.)

(OOC: I am swapping my right hand longsword with the new one, the Flametounge.)

"Well, that was pretty convenient now, wasn't it?" Drav says, "Now I don't have to start a fire."

*Drav pulls out his shortbow and prepares a sheaf arrow*

Jocelyn pulls out her warhammer. "Here we go," she says. "Baeros or Brock, get its attention. I'll move in behind it."

[Breila]

Seeng the others move into action, Ouranaga simply pulls the "spell" book off its shelf and puts it into her backpack.

(OOC: I know this might not be a wise move, but her wisdom is only 10 and I want to play her chaotic nature a bit more.)
