The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

Van arches his back, stretches his arms in a windmill fashion, and cracks his knuckles.

Chris:
Tabbi will move to the first door and see if she can detect any traps. Do you want a role for detect traps in the private thread?
Zafron will look for any sliding wall or shifting walls. Do you want him to role in the private thread?

[yes, you can do a Det Trap roll in the private thread if you like. The wall check i think is supposed to be secret. technically the other too but i guess it doesn't matter]

Tabbi begins to inspect the door. Zafron examines the walls nearby, not seeing anything conspicuous.

Can Van get a feel for the art style? Compare it to any other adventures he may have gone on before? Looking into some background on who may have constructed / decorated.

Bryce will accept the chalk from his brother with a silent nod and approach the remaining door. First visually and then physically, he will check the door to see if he can determine if it is trapped in any way. He quietly mutters to himself as he runs through mental checklists when checking for traps.

Galan floats back and forth along the hall, troubled with the clues he can't figure out!

Tabbi and Bryce check the door, but don't find any traps or secret stoneworkings nearby. There does seem to be something odd about the doorway, however. When Bryce thinks a little more on it, he notes that the small gap between the bottom of the door and the floor had stone behind it, rather than another room or hall. It could be a raised transition, which would be quite odd for a door in this location, or something else. He and Tabbi both also recall the door in the first false hallway to the tomb, and how it seemed clear, but did set off the ceiling collapse...

Van contemplates the artwork, it is similar in form to some ancient artworks he has seen [ancient history] but he cannot quite place it... or perhaps the resemblance is only coincidental.

Galan activates his flying boots, hovering back and forth along the hall

Tabbi will look up at the ceiling to see if the door is holding it up.

While the frame is tight in the wall, and the door is snug in the frame, it certainly doesn't seem to be suppprting or tied to the ceiling in any way

"What are you trying to figure with that door?" Van will approach half way. He will assist in the search/investigation if the answer is reasonable. At times his brothers look for fish when there is no river present.

Perhaps we should open it, or move on. Sorril suggests, when Van speaks up.

"Oh you mean do the obvious?" Van sighs and looks at the Sorril. "How long have you known my brothers?"

Is there a handle on the door to open it?
