The group trot back passing both graveyards to reach the northerneastern watchtower [#2C], just twenty foot from the unexplored northeatern farm building. [#4C]
Two pigs are chewing on some grass near the base of this tower.
The tower is empty.

Vic shuffles Val to the front to explore the northeastern farm building. [#4C]
The single-storey wooden residence has been partially demolished. Searching through the wreckage reveals a crushed and very dead human female and a pair of very active chickens pecking through the thoroughyl ransacked debris. There is one bed, human-sized, in the chicken and pig farmer's house..

Moving further south, Val leading, the group check out the pumpkin and squash farm's single-storey wooden house. [#4G] The building has not been structurally damaged although the door has been broken open and the contents thourougly looted and scattered. Nothing of significant value remains. It seems that a human-sized family live here.

Some fifty foot or so futher south the most south-easterly wooden building [#4H] has fared less well. Opening the unlocked door reveals a shattered roof above a six foot wide pit. The neatly-made double bed and a desk, the latter neatly stacked with papers, reamain undamaged. The desk has a chair pushed under it, and has a closed drawer on its right hand side. Apparantly two human-sized people lived here and a pair of corpses are part buried in the remains of the roof. Both are elderly, one male, one female, with matching wedding rings.

Investigation on the desk to see if any drawers are trapped or locked. [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10

"Vic, take a look at this papers to see if they have any interesting information on them. I will try to see if there is anything in this desk."

Val will open the draws if he doesn't notice any traps.

Val thinks the drawer isn't trapped.
He siezes the handle and pulls it open.
It contains some wax seals, jars of ink, blank scrolls, quill pens and a money pouch.

A perusal of the papers on the desk show that some are kinds of forms and some are mostly just numbers.

You recognise the forms as land ownership and lumber movements documents and the numerical pages are tax records.

Vic also flushes out a creature hiding at the back of the desk.
It looks like a cat but with a "Whheek" it flies out and lands on Vic's shoulder.

It wears a small, red leather collar.

Unbar will gather up all of the tax forms, lumber movement forms and land ownership papers he can find and stow them away in his pack. "These could prove useful in determining if the town has been overstepping in their lumber operations. Could you guys keep an eye out for more documents?" Looking around, Unbar asks "Where did that elf get to?"
