Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
Angel just glares at Bastian for a moment. "Would you like to go into the water Attired? That can be arranged." Making no further comment she looks to the open water. "What are you doing?" She asks herself silently.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
Bastian says nothing, but stands there smiling as she stares into the open water. "You know, it's not going to get any warmer if you stare at it...."

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
The water, when Angel hits it, is as cold as expected, but not so cold as to be life-threatening.
She dog-paddles about on the surface for a bit, then, taking a deep breath of air, heads beneath. The water is fairly clear near the surface but as she moves deeper the water becomes murkier and hard to see through.
She kicks her way back to the surface, sputtering a bit once she gets there.
On her second dive she uses the line from one of Filaris' crab traps to guide her down, pulling herself hand-over-hand. Long before she reaches the bottom the light fails once again.

"I need light, Bastian can you create light? I don't mean from a torch..." Magic, she meant magic, Daos could probably manage something.
Wrapping her arms about herself protectively, to cover her semi naked form, she was fully aware of the crew watching her. The water was obviously very cold.
"By Edamus its Cold in here."

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
Bastian purses his lips and looks serious for a moment. He reaches into his belt pouch and removes something wrapped in a small cloth. "I have the coin given to me before our departure." He pauses to consider his actions. "I can let you use it but please, please do not loose it." This is the most serious that Bastian has been the entire trip. His mood it broken quickly by following up with, "Besides, it gives me more chance to see you swimming around!"

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
Angel looks up at thee Cleric for a moment, almost unsure if he is serious or not. "Thank you, I will protect it." Taking the coin tighly in her hand she shines it experimentally into the water. Once she is satisfied she looks back up at him.
"Does me swimming about mostly naked in freezing cold water excite you?" Seeing his face she shakes her blonde hair and frowns. "Men are strange, you concern me..."

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
Clutching Bastian's glowing coin in her hand gives Angel a much better view of her surroundings on her next dive, but there is not much to see apart from seaweed, and mud, and a few fish here and there. The process is slow - she is not much of a swimmer, and now she is hampered by the need to keep hold of the coin.
After several trips down, she notices that the small fish she has been seeing are suddenly becoming scarce - schooling near the bottom. At the same time, she feels an urgent tug on her tether line.
===============================================================
Bastian watches patiently as Angel makes several dives, keeping track of her location by the glow of the coin he lent her.
He is surprised by the sound of whistle, coming from the lookout on the ship's mast. Two long, shrill notes followed by a shout: "Get her aboard! Bonehead!"
The deckhands leap into action, with practiced ease hauling Angel's tether aboard in the same manner they use to recover crab traps.
================================================================
As Angel is unceremoneously hauled aboard, she manages to catch a brief glimpse of something out of an angler's nightmare. The fish is about eight yards long, instead of teeth, boney plates fill a mouth big enough to bite a horse in two.

All but naked, Angel pulls herself to her feet, her body shivering the whole time, the silk underthings are now totally transparent, her body is now exposed for all to see. "I believe that thing could have swallowed me whole." She says to no-one in particular.
Watching the fish for a short time, (and assuming Bastian finds her a blanket or a towel). She passes him back the coin, and drags him to talk to Filaris. Panting and cold, she reluctantly leans on the cleric for support. "What the hell was that? I think we can assume that if there was something down here.. It ate it."
(ooc: if Bastian doesn't find a blanket she has a cloak)

"Well, maybe not whole, but swallow you and come back for more, surely," Filaris replies. "That's Bonehead. He's a local. Mostly he looks for live food, so as long as we are not dropping or pulling gear when he's around we can work here.
"Hang on," he says, then turns to his son Joshua. "Old Bonehead's here. You know what that means."
"Pack it up and go somewhere else for the day," the younger man replies.
"Got that right."

"You all handle that so well. Thank you for getting me out of the water, swimming wasn't exactly a requirement in the Legions..." She trails off, still shivering. "I take it that means I'm not going back in... I had hoped to find.. Well, something."
Pulling her cover tightly about her person she frowns.. "Would there be a shirt I may wear? I still owe you some work, in repayment for your kindness.."
She'll collect her breeches, and pull them
Back on, pulling off the wet shorts (facing out to sea, course so they only see her bottom)

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
"Not surprising you didn't find anything. Sea doesn't give up it secrets easily. Could be an entire sunken treasure ship down there, and we'd never know it unless I happened to drop a trap right on it. Besides, our little prize could have gone into the sea anywhere, and drifted here on the currents.
"But, hey, if you want to go back in, I won't stop you. Old Bonehead might even leave enough of you behind for us to use as bait in the traps." The captain's tone is serious, but he's clearly trying not to laugh as he says it.
"Darling," he interrupts as Angel begins to change clothes, "how about you change in the wheelhouse. I think the boys have had enough excitement for one day." He throws a mock-gallant bows and sweeps his hand toward the wheelhouse door, while the crewmen boo and hiss.
As Angel heads toward the cabin door, he calls out: "Look in the locker to the right. You'll find an oilcloth jacket in there. Keep you dry while you work."
==================================================
Fraso spends the day researching his books, digging through Culla's meager library, and asking what appear to be leading questions which turn nonsensical halfway through. It's not that he's mad, for he is quite coherent. he just seems unable to concentrate. At one point late in the afternoon, he asks permission to revisit the icehouse. When he returns, he seems more certain of himself, and more interested in leaving town, cursing his bodyguards for abandoning him, as if leaving immediately, this close to sundown, were actually an option.

"No, I do not wish to go back in... My Employer would not be impressed if I die out here..." She returns the bow with all sincerity, giving him a smile of thanks. "I thought they had already seen the... Best parts, why hide now?"
She does however walk to the door, taking her weapon from Bastian with a smile of thanks, and Returns to Filaris. "Captain" With that she enters the wheel house and changes, leaving all but her breeches (which she wears) out to dry.

Elias sticks close to Fraso wherever he goes, but he tries to stay out of sight and out of mind. However when evening approaches, Elias addresses him.
"You seem to have ideas about our Elven friend. Care to enlighten me?"

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
"Legends, woodsman, legends.
"Bear in mind that I am not a historian, or an expert on living beings. My erudition and competencies lie in different areas. But there are legends, and where there are legends, there is usually a kernel of truth.
"Know you the tale of the Rat-piper? To a village beset by a huge infestation of rats came a bard. For a fee, the bard said he could end the infestation, and once an agreement had been reached, he used a magic pipe to lure the rats out of town down to the river, where they all drowned. But the villagers reneged on their promise, and beat the piper, and drove him away. Later, he returned, and using the same pipe he lured the children of the village away, never to be heard from again.
"The tale is almost true, but it was the were-rats that came back, and took the children, and sold them to slavers."
Fraso pauses to let that sink in, looking for a moment as if that were enough of an answer to Elias' question. And yesterday he might have let it end there. But today he seems a bit less confused. He continues. "Your people have legends of a lost tribe - and I do not mean the dark ones. They're not lost. They were disowned. But legends say there was a tribe of Firstborn Folk who were taken away by beings from the skies. And these beings took others, took tribes of men, and dwarves, and all the other races that talk, and in their city in the sky turned and twisted into monsters.
"Utter drivel, of course. The sky holds no men, nor cities for them to live in, or take slaves to. Ridiculous.
"But where is the truth at the heart it? Where is the seed that grew into the myth?
"What if our prize here is the proof that something happened?"

"Gods," Elias says, quietly. "Master Fraso, do not take this personally, but I hope that you aren't even close to the truth. I have no interest in running foul of such... abominations...."
