Papa leans casually against a wall, still standing. While he waits for Fraso to finish his business, he eyes the visible young women and smiles to himself.

While he waits for his employer, Fraso, to finish his business, Papa walks a circuit around the entire restaurant and its accompanying buildings, looking for signs of trouble. He nods a greeting to any young women he comes across.

Bastian swaggers over to the bar with a hint of mirth playing at the corner of his mouth. "I see you have honey, so I assume you have mead? I'll take a tankard of that and some of the best bread you have available!" He almost managed to say it with a straight face, but by the time he finishes he's broken out into a broad grin. Looking over at Angel he says "I just can't get the hang of this 'serious bodyguarding' stuff!"

@ Friv:

The way station is really nothing special - just the roadhouse with its trading post and food stand, a stable, and a small inn. Behind the roadhouse is a large open area sporting a framework of four tall posts connected by crossbeams.

The only young women Papa sees are part of the well-dressed family eating under the porch awning. Papa's nod of greeting earns him a small grin from a thirteen-year-old who is quickly scolded by her mother.

----------------------------------

@ Ish:

"We've got mead," the boy at the counter smiles. "And we've got a fine white bread, if it please you. Five copper for the mead and another two for the bread. Will you be wanting anything for the road, perhaps? We sell mead by the bottle as well."
"No matter where you go, there you are."

After making his circuit, Papa declines to loiter outside the privies to wait for Fraso to finish, since that looks sleazy.

Instead, he enters the roadhouse and joins Angel at the counter. He says quietly, "I did a check. Nothing. With our employer hiring so many guards, I thought we'd have more trouble, but none so far."

While he talks to the other mercenary, Papa spots and looks with interest at the man with the staff. Speaking even more quietly, he says, "Burn marks on his clothes and he's carrying a good staff. He looks like a sorcerer."

Papa just nods agreement to what Angel said. He goes to the counter and orders a meat pie and two cups of watered wine, paying with coppers.

[OOC] @ Jen - the place has indoor tables and outdoor tables on the covered porch. The well-dressed family is seated at one of the outdoor tables. The big man with the singed robe is seated at one of the indoor tables. If you want to keep an eye on both, you'll have watch one or the other through a window.
Did you mean for Angel to be sitting at an indoor table or an outdoor one? [/OOC]

"Mead by the bottle!? Wonderful! I must ask though," drawls Bastian, "How would you like to have some of your fine vintages blessed by a follower of Liquitus?" With his final words, Bastian leans on the bar with his left elbow while holding his clerical staff in his right hand. "Perhaps we could work out a deal? I understand blessed wine fetches a far higher price than the norm."

Angel puts her head in her hands.
"This Cleric better have his uses.. otherwise he is dead weight." She mutters to Papa watching the world through the window, realising their employer has yet to enter she rises, taking her cup in the process.
"Watch him, I'll check outside".

She'll step outside, check the wagon and see if Fraso has left the Privies (without going in them).

Map of the way station, as requested:

Image

The porch is out front (left side of the map) and the trading post is out back (right side). The white spaces in the walls are large, shuttered windows, with the shutters propped open. Behind the bar is a large flat-top grille with various things cooking/reheating on it, including the previously-mentioned meat pies.

The big man in the brown robe is seated at the corner table to the left the hearth (which does not have a fire lit, this being warm weather). The two dwarves are at one of the rectangular tables on the far side of the room from the hearth.

The well-dressed family is out on the porch, at one of the tables to the right of the door.

------------------------------

Fraso has exited the privies and is walking walking onto the porch as Angel is coming out. "Meat pies, eh? Taste wonderful. Bad for the digestion, though."

Hiric has seen to the mules, with Sallia's assistance. The rest of your mounts are being eyed by the unoccupied stable boys that Hiric had chased away earlier. It is clear from their demeanor that the boys are trying to decide whether they will get a tip or a scolding if they take it upon themselves to care for the animals.

Angel reach in her pouch and flicks a copper in their direction.

" Watch out for him" She points to her Grey Charger Praesul,"He kicks"

She's spent enough of her hard earned money now...

[ooc]Gonna bring this along[/ooc]

Angel steps confidently past the boys, straight into the building. Nodding at Papa she walks towards the robed man.

"Hail fellow traveller, what news of the road ahead?"
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Papa raises an eyebrow at Angel's action but doesn't stop it. He just watches to see what happens and strokes a fingertip across the amulet of Cronus at his neck.
