Sorry if that was kind of boring for everyone but possibly Jerrard. The game divided things up into two sections, the first being the Trials, and the other being the Diversions (hence "Trials and Diversions"). The Diversions part was for the other party members, and included a little sidequest to Palanthas that would have included some foreshadowing of things to come. But everyone decided to stay and watch the Trials, so I'm afraid there won't be much XP to go around. Well, gives Erastin a chance to catch up with some of the others, I suppose.
In the module, none of the candidates are named or given personalities, or the DM is encouraged to make some up. Hence Geffin, Erik, and Farkas. I don't know if the Grandmaster even has a nephew, although he has several siblings, so it's pretty likely. I made Geffin his nephew to see if it would make Erastin hesitate any during their fights.
McKennen, however, was played straight from the module. I think maybe the author of the module had watched Full Metal Jacket right before writing this, I'm not sure.
Anyway, Erastin did pretty well. He made every check and never took a single point of damage, temporary or otherwise. The scene where Erik challenges McKennen was supposed to be for Erastin, if he failed any of his endurance checks. He didn't, so I recycled the scene anyway, because it revealed some bit of McKennen's hidden depths.
So, any feedback, questions, thoughts, opinions, criticisms, etc. so far? Everyone having fun, I hope? The next day is much more inclusive, at least.
