Imani looks to Locky, sharing Ulster's dumbfounded look. "That...could have really helped all of us," Imani points out to the Kender. "Anyway, perhaps you are looking too much into this Babushka. There are many dangers out in the desert besides just the sun. A pack of wild animals could have attacked the group for all we know. Either way, I suggest we head towards the mountains."

"I.. I guess, it just came to me! It was like Paladine told me I could, no one had ever shown me." she lowers her head. "Sorry, I am still new to all this, its not like I've ever been to the desert before, or even seen the Undead!" Locky looks rather sad, kicking the sand with her feet.

"Agreed, let us go to the mountains." Jerrard responds, saying nothing about Locky.

(ok i forgot!)

"Locky, you are doing great. Nobody can think of everything. Let us be grateful to Paladine for showing you what you can do. And yes, we should continue towards the mountains, but keep a rear guard in case the undead Locky chased away will return.

Imani, I agree with you that the dangers of the desert could have killed the people and horses. But still, they don't turn into undead just like that. And. forgive me for saying this, you told us your sister wife had not learned to defend herself as you did. So why did she survive while eight men perished?

I will have a look at the horse corpses, maybe I can see how they died, and then we will go on."

Inspecting the dead horses, the only wounds that Babushka can find are what appear to be small scorpion stings. The human corpses share this trait, as well.

(OOC: Minor correction, but it was nine men, not eight.)

"Imani, these black scorpions we saw, could they be responsible for the death of all these people and animals?" Babushka's voice sounds both interested and concerned.

While Imani considers Babushka's question, Locky recalls once hearing that scorpions are often used as symbols of Chemosh, God of Death in certain cultures. There are even legends that state that the small arachnids are often chosen by Chemosh to be his personal assassins.

Locky makes a Religion check (1d20): 1, pass.

"This God, Paladine, of yours doesn't sound all that great if he lets you know you can do certain things after they are really needed," Imani says with a small shrug. With the way she was saying things, Paladine didn't exist in her world.

"Um, yes scorpions can kill people and animals. Their tails are extremely posionous."

"Then we must be very careful when we next make camp" Babushka declares. "We do not want to end up like these poor people and animals here. Still I would like to know how Syriana and her last companion were spared, but the horse they were using was not. The only way to find that out is follow their trail, I guess. Shall we?"

"He is a God, it is not my place or anyone else's place to figure out things like that." The Kender answers in a thoughtful way, obviously she has considered this before.

"You know, Chemosh uses Scorpions, I think I remember reading in a book that he has them as his personal assassins." She adds, seeing the scorpions, walking forwards she looks at the bodies herself, (do they have anything interesting on them? Symbols, etc?)

"Locky, Jerrard, do you think the scorpions could be enchanted or whatever it is called to make anyone they bite into an undead?"

The only symbols Locky sees are the black jackal tattoos. Each corpse has a scimitar, an elaborately decorated shield, some food and water, and a handful of coins, but this is all they possess, beyond the clothes on their backs.

"Hmmm I suppose they could be." Locky picks through with the pointy end of her Hoopak. Muttering something about "...Boring..." pocketing the coins she walks back over to the group. "Undead are made through magic, aren't they Jerrard?"

Rubbing her head she adds "Ohhh and by Clerics of Chemosh, so that fits."

"Yes I believe that is possible, the suggestions make sense." He looks back away thoughtfully, "They can be made by one of the Black Robes." His mind going back to the fact the Vizier is a one of the Black Robes.

Seeing Locky pocket the money from the corpses, Babushka comments: "Locky, the most valuable possession of people in the desert is their water." She proceeds to see if there are waterskins on the corpses or perhaps on the horses as well, takes them and checks the water carefully. She also keeps her eyes open and alert for any sign of the scorpions.
