"Certainly, certainly," Bodahn says. "I can sell you a score of these bolts for only three silvers--a real steal, let me assure you."

Simone hands over the money needed for the bolts, and adds them to her other collection of bolts. There was no harm in being prepared for whatever was to come.

"Splendid, splendid," Bodahn says, exchanging the bolts for coin. "A pleasure doing business with you. But is there anything else? Some rope, perhaps? Maybe some tents?"

"Excellent, excellent!" Bodahn exclaims at the mage's big spending.
Once Wallace is equipped with all of his new gear, Alenka gestures to the fortress' main gates. "Shall we be off then?" she asks.

The four head out, leaving Stenhold behind and entering the Hinterlands proper. The ground is muddy and the sky is overcast, but other than that, it's a fairly nice day now. Some of the trees have begun to turn orange or red, but many are still green.

"One moment," Alenka says. She lifts her staff up and her skin suddenly turns a dusty grey like stone. The effect then fades away, so she looks normal again. "One can never be too careful."

Alenka casts
Rock Armor on herself [TN 10] (
3d6+4): 18, pass. She drains 8 MP to improve her Armor by 4 points on herself for 6 hours.

Simone decides to stay in the back of the group. "Well, providing it doesn't rain anymore, maybe this won't be such a bad trip."

Wallace also protects himself with a spell, and then the four set off. Davne in the lead, the two mages in the middle, and Simone taking up the rear. They start at a brisk pace, eager to make good time before nightfall or the rain returns.
"Tell me," Alenka says, breaking the silence, "what did you think of the Arl?"
