"Why doesnt Cal stay with you then? Safety in numbers and all that." She smiles wearily, "Exciting Master Pyros?" She asks with a raised eyebrow. "I suppose."

Perhaps she was wrong about the Wolves...?

Jerry goes back to pick up her reaminig things, spartan as they are, and after checking Merrick is ready to go, seeks Mira for the signal to be off.

"Two are staying. Adran has something to achieve, and Cal is waiting with him. Someone needs to watch the house in case." Heading outside she rounds the group, loads her crossbow and prepares to follow the Ranger.

"Ready when you are. Pyros follow him,. Merrick, Jerry up front. Cross in the middle, I'll take the rear with Elsa. Let's go."

Pyros nods, and tries to pick up the tracks Artanis saw.

"Pyros, stay behind him. Learn from him but don't move ahead unless he tells you to." She smiles

Pyros will stop mid stride with one foot comically up in the air by his waist.

"OK!"

Artanis was surprised at how quickly everyone gathered their gear and are ready to hit the trail. He points to the tracks and shows them to Pyros. "Right here. See the size and the indentations? Even note the spacing between the prints. You'll be my other set of eyes if the tracks get harder to follow."

The ranger sets up following the trail. Focused and determined. He does chuckle at the sight of Pyros stopping in mid-stride, with one foot in the air. Queen Shallaria would find him to be a most amusing jester.

Jerry just manages to refrain from comments about jingling bells.

As the Group goes to leave Mira takes Ontash's hand. "We will stop this, you have my word, I promise you." She comments with a shaky smile, "Two of our group will remain behind. Just in case." she adds.

Ontash thanks the bard again, Please... be careful... The party falls out in rank and makes their way after the ranger.

Artanis follows the tracks, quickly finding a pair of normal wolf-tracks moving alongside it... The tracks turn north, crossing the creek over a fallen tree. The woods thicken almost immediately... even in the deepest reaches of his untouched woodland home, Artanis had rarely seen thicker foliage. Fortunately, it was this kind of terrain he was most familiar with... and the plethora of plantlife afforded that many more signs.

The path follows a game trail, which splits off after about a half of a mile. It hardlytakes a moment for the redheaded half-elf to spot the patch of fur clinging to the rough bark of a pine tree a few paces on. Checking it, he is convinced it must be from the creature due to the height at which it hangs. A few yards farther and the large, elongated paw-tracks disappear... replaced by those appparrently left by a barefoot human...

It takes the better part of three hours to reach the end of the game trail, even with Pyros letting someone tote some of his gear so he isn't so badly encumbered [assumption?].

The forest thins out a little, finally, and the side of a building can be seen. After a moment of study it can be identified as a barn... the tracks obviously lead up to the house.

====
Artanis tracking (15)
+2 primary terrain (forest)
+3 very heavy forest
+1 (for every 2 creatures)
Need anything but a critical fail
Art Tracking check [1d20] = 11
Pass

Pyros is (seemingly miraculously) the slowest of the group with a movement of about 3 right now. If someone could lug about 7 lbs of his gear he’d be at 4, or if someone could tote his pack he’d be at an unencumbered speed of 6.

Terrain cost:
Forest heavy cost 4
A trail (such as game trail) costs half that

[The odd light green and grey patches are my poor attempt to cover printed details on the map. The dark green patches off the print area are trees i threw in.

The grey rectangle in the SE corner is clearly a barn. The northern structure is a house.
1 square is 10x10 feet.

"Well. Here we are." Mira comments as she checks her weapons. "Artanis, you have the most combat skills. How do we do this?" She asks her eyes scanning the Barn and the House.

"I say we go running in yelling a war cry. It will catch them all off guard!"

"Or I could go scouting in."
