"Odd thing to have in a bedroom, in any case. But hardly our problem. Let us continue. I would prefer we found the young woman soon, before it becomes necessary to beat the information out of our friends downstairs." Christopher will follow the others to the bridge. If the goal is to cross, he shall offer to go first. If it holds him, it will hold any of the others.

Eloise waits at the edge of the bridge, watching the man cross.

Does Christopher go onto the bridge or does anyone talk to Thelma about her idea?

Dale looks at the bridge to see if there is a weight system needed.

The bridge is resting on beams jutting out of the palas's wall, and it has a central pillar. What the situation is at the keep's side, he can't tell from here, as the bridge's span is about 60 feet.

"Well, it looks secure, then." Dale jokes with humor. "Who is going first?"

The gallant young knight-to-be carefully walks unto the bridge. The sounds it gives off are nothing other than what would be expected from a well-made bridge of this height, so he walks on confidently after the first few tentative steps. However, just after he has passed the central pillare, the bridge acts like a giant seesaw: the section towards the keep moves down rapidly. Luckily, the span is larger than the bridge is high, so it is not a vertical fall but a steep slide. Nevertheless, the young gentleman has a very rough landing on the stone yard.

"Drat." Seeing the Christopher fall Eloise curses softly. "Who puts a childs toy in the middle of a castle?" Shaking her head she turns to the chest, "I bet thats heavy enough to hold it..."

Saul leans on his staff and peers down at Christopher. "Are you alright, lad?" With Christopher's glaring reply Saul chuckles to himself and starts looking around the room.

(The bridge tipped forward, away from us, correct? There was no sign of it tipping backward in our direction, was there?)

Yes correct, the bridge tipped away from you, sending Christopher to the foot of the keep. On this side, it rests securely on heavy wooden beams that jut out of the palas walls. Now that you look closely, you could find evidence that the chest must have been carried/dragged over the threshold of the door whih has a few marks in it. The weight of the chest would keep the bridge on "crossing" position as long as its weight was higher than that of the people at its far end. The fully armed and armored Christopher could thus be on the far side of the bridge only alone, even with the chest in place.

"Which one of you big strong men are going to offer to move it back while he makes his way back up here?" Eloise asks with a grin.

(OOC: Well you have to explain how you want to do that. The end of the bridge that lies on the beams of the palas is now about 25 feet up from where you are)

Does the wall continue above her?

The wall is timberframe, so it's difficult so scale.
I think I'll have to draw a picture of the bridge and buildings to make things clear. Not only is the end of the bridge now 25 feet higher (thus higher than the building), but also a couple dozen feet away...

Saul returns to the chamber that housed the weighted chest and begins to slowly drag it to the bridge. He grunts with the effort, more as a means of expressing his consternation at having to do it by himself.

((OOC: :P ))
