The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

Bryce checks the wall opposite the second door and notices a chip adjacent the center, as of something had struck there before. Motioning everyone away, Bryce stands aside and opens the door. Once again a blank wall os revealed and a spear flies out at tremendous speed to shatter against the far wall.

Bryce will spend a minute searching the wall behind the door to see if it might be a false wall with a way through just to be thorough.

"Wow... next time we should put some coco nut in front of the spear, at least make the trap useful."

========================================================================
(OOC: Another orientation brief... are we in the hall with all the colorful circles in the paints and just tried two normal doors opposite to each other, each has a wall behind and just spearing who opens the doors?
Does the spears can be retrieved and does they worth something?

Thanks.

[ooc:] yes, in the hall of colored circles. The doors are on the same wall, about 10 ft apart. The spears are destroyed, but look like they were simple in designand make[/ooc]

"Well, since we don't have better system, let's enter the colorful circles besides those colors mentioned to avoid, one by one." Galan suggests.

[ they originally came into the second grand hall from the golden one and now know that the black one leads to the chapel that they just came from. Which Circle would they like to try now?]

I think we need a new description of the circles.

Black orb that leads to the Chapel (where they just were)
Archway to the South

"We know at least a couple of these circles are illusory. I'll see about the rest." Bryce takes up a pole and methodically starts at the bottom left side of the hall and works his way up and around the hall and back down the right side poking the pole against/into each of the colored circles.

Van will watch intently. Making sure to not be directly opposite of the circle being tested.

He will also recite the poem, to keep it memorized.

ACERERAK CONGRATULATES YOU ON YOUR POWERS OF OBSERVATION.
SO MAKE OF THIS WHATEVER YOU WISH,
FOR YOU WILL BE MINE IN THE END NO MATTER WHAT!

Go back to the tormentor or through the arch,
and the second great hall you'll discover.
Shun green if you can. but night's good color
is for those of great valor.
If shades of red stand for blood the wise
will not need sacrifice aught but a loop of
magical metal - you're well along your march.

Two pits along the way will be found to lead
to a fortuitous fall, so check the wall.
These keys and those are most important of all,
and beware of trembling hands and what will maul.
If you find the false you find the true
and into the columned hall you'll come,
and there the throne that's key and keyed.

The iron men of visage grim do more than
meet the viewer's eye.
You've left and left and found my Tomb
and now your soul will die.

Bryce makes another circuit, poking the spheres with his 10 ft pole. As before, the tip passes through the Gold, Black and Red spheres only; as if they were illusion.

As he passes near the gate filled with glowing mist, the bottom cornerstones and the keystone (top) glow
lower left, OLIVE;
keystone RUSSET;
lower right, CITRON

Galan plays a 'careful' yet sometimes cheery tune.

=========================================
(OOC: Bardic inspiration to help Bryce survive.

I think we shall find something that can fix/crash the gargoyle in other entrance and something that fit the chappel disc in another and so forth. It's like a puzzle. Can't see the pattern in the colors and how they hint for the right order, even that Galan is a riddlemaster. Maybe he is a riddleslave :) ...
Anyway, under that assumption... Gold for gargoyle and black for chappel, so let's go to another gold to fix the gargoyle and another black to fix the chappel. It is only a wild guess and maybe it is too trivial and thus wrong.
Any other suggestions?
