The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

[Ok, seems SQL is MIA at the moment]

Bryce pokes the hole with his staff again, checking and re-checking that nothing terrible happens to the wooden pole. Finally he creeps forward and passes into the illusory orb of crimson, finding a 3 foot wide tunnel leading into darkness. Tapping and checking meticulously each section of floor and wall and ceiling. he moves down 40 feet until he reaches a dead end. with a careful search, he finds a secret door to the right!

Thanks Tristen, I guess skimming through posts on my break didn't work as I didn't realize we were waiting on me.

After checking thoroughly to see if he can determine if it is trapped and comes to the conclusion it is not. :D
If traps are detected, then not so much.

Bryce searches and discovers that the stone floor directly in front of the secret door is designed to shift when the door is opened.

Bryce will let a dry chuckle pass by his lips as he ponders.
(Out of curiosity, would Bryce think the secret door was well hidden or relatively easy to find?)

Galan is sure the brothers will handle the trap and enter the secret door, so he just plays a calming tune humming to himself.

He'll head back to the others. "Dead end. Hidden door that wasn't to hard to find. Floor is suspicious by the door. Looks like it might be designed to shift away when the door is opened." Scratching his head briefly he smiles, "Could be a trap meant to be found just to lure us farther in, or perhaps the opposite.." Continuing with a touch of admiration in his voice."Tricky bastard, the one who made this place."
"Grab a rope and come with me" he says at a brother. "I'll tie meself off on one end and you get to keep me from falling into any pits o' doom when I open the damn door" He heads back in to the tunnel to make words actions.

Assuming a brother comes along, the plan is to tie himself off under the armpits with the rope and have around 10ft of slack and a brother on the other end bracing to pull him up if the ground should prove to be deceiving when he attempts to open the hidden door.

Sorril chuckles, I suppose it is my turn to act as an anchor. Taking the rope he lets Bryce arrange it to his satisfaction. Ten feet. he acknowledges, wraping the line about his own waist and holding the end connected to the roguish Mondoon brother tightly.

Zafron and Tabbi will let the others do their work and wait patiently.
