WotL OOC Thread II

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

Tulbas knows that Gobax (nobody knows his true name is Grubnick) is staying at the High Hand.

By the way, as we are nearing the end of this chapter, I thought I would ask now. Does anyone have any scenes that they want to do within the next in-game week? If not, I'll probably fast forward a week for the next chapter as that's when the next big part of the metaplot happens (the army returns from Qualinesti, word of what happened in Pax Tharkas reaches Haven). A week after that the army goes after the dwarflands and the Night of the Eye occurs, which is when Tulbas will be expected to take his Test.

So yes, if you have anything that your character will do within the next week that needs to be played out, let me know what it is and what day it will occur. We'll skip forward to that day, but if nobody has anything we'll jump to Autumn Twilight 7th instead.

Well, first warn Gobax, this evening on the way home and before curfew. Second, hunt down thieves. Third, prepare for the Test, as reluctant as Tulbas may be he will need Magnus instruction and help. Fourth, tax issue for the trading guild. Not sure about the days though. I guess preparing for the test would take most of the time.

Btw, you mentioned several time Tethys reactions are resembling humans reactions. Is there any significant meaning there? Such as human blood is involved? Or that his intelligent makes him try to blend in?

That shouldn't be a problem.

Any thoughts on how you plan to do that?

Gregeddin still has the note, I believe.

Mostly I was just emphasizing that despite how inhuman he looks (scales, sharp teeth, claws, tail, wings, etc.), he still acts quite civilized. He's very polite, regal, he cuts up his food properly, and he uses very human like gestures despite looking more like a monster. It's an interesting contrast and I felt like highlighting it.

About hunting the thieves, bribe the checkpoints for info, or ask Kendra to get info from inside, although she is not very popular in her squad killing them all the time :). Check in all taverns. Check in stores if big purchases made and not for the army.

1) Integrate with the party by helping them hunt down the thieves.
2) Try to connect with the local Guild, if it still exists (two reasons, a) just in case/potentially useful in both directions, b) possible route to track down the pair of thieves from #1)
3) Try to suss out if the party is ethically s;plit and who lives on which side on the good/evil chasm.
4) Keep the mountain dwarf in the distance "still integrating with the party; need to gain their trust first."

@Bish: Not sure if Tulas would know but dwarf supports friends to the end of the world. But will walk to the end of the world to do over an enemy. Shima counts the mountain dwarf as an enemy. Enemy's enemy kicks in here, coupled with kindness/acceptance from the party as Shima is estranged from his own clan. He also fancies Arulia.

Arulia doesn't have any plans that she must enact before a week passes. She's been quite chastised this night, and wants nothing more than to lie low and not cause problems for her family. The most she'll do is to look for work, or more likely, accompany her father to work and help him as she can (she does have the blacksmithing proficiency now since the last time she leveled!). I don't think she'll go to Elara, despite the possibility of her leading her to Xyleena and Yvette: revealing herself as a cleric of Paladine is a huge risk, and Elara has rubbed her the wrong way. If the others contact her to help look for the thieves, she'll probably join them (unless there's suddenly booming business at the blacksmith shop that she needs to keep up with), but she won't look on her own.

I like Tethys, too! It's been fun reading his interactions with Kendra.

I forgot something, if Tulbas will know of the economic struggle of Aurelia he would suggest loan. After all he is provided for even without his own money.

Chris, Tulbas as an elf don't like dwarves so much. Also, why would he believe Shima that he is an enemy of Raena? What made them enemies? Only the fact that she hired him to catch a bunch of people who left her to die? She could be the victim for all that Shima knows.
I'm not trying to make your life hard, it's just that Tulbas don't trust people too easily unless he sees a solid reason in their description. In fact he even didn't consider Haaque and Gregeddin friends until recent events. He even resent them for continuing working with Magnus after the latter murdered his uncle.

Hi Bish! It's completely fine. Was just offering up the "enemy of my enemy is my friend addage", added to the stated "need some friends". (The Pathfinder package makes a dwarf mostly a non-dwarf to other dwarves.) Watch Shima all you want. Test him all you want. It fine. :)

How much will he be spending on the bribe? The more he spends, the more likely they'll actually do what you ask.

Arulia has never mentioned her family or her financial problems to the others, as far as I remember.

Still waiting to hear from spyguy, chese, mgbevan and Horizon.

In the meantime, let's go ahead and wrap everything up if you haven't already in the in-game thread.

About Bribe, I thought up to 10 steel at 5 posts, and I didn't mean to be the only one who pays. It should be collective. If we collect more, we might be able to pay even more.

About Arulia, I know she didn't mentioned it, I meant if we see her in the next few days and she seems depressed and we chit chat about it and then she offers the knowledge about her situation, then Tulbas will offer a loan (with no interest!!) :)

It's just that you want to skip ahead, so no role play of that.

Arulia's family troubles will not be something that she speaks openly about. I mean, if you can find out another way you're welcome to approach her about it, but it won't be something she brings up on her own. Everyone in town has it tough, after all, and many are worse off than her.

Things Gregeddin would like to do:
1. In the morning, rise early and get to Arulia's house to warn her of the church's bounty on clerics.
2. Deliver the letter to the cleric on behalf of the people and taxes in Haven.
3. Check in on Mateo and Zoya's family
4. Scrape together some furniture
5. Look for a fence to try and sell the chainmail stashed at home.

Regarding Tulbas' idea to bribe the checkpoints, Gregeddin doesn't think that they would be very helpful given the previous encounters they have had with the army, and would suggest against it, being a waste of money to give any more steel to that horrid army

As Gregeddin has no idea Arulia is a cleric, this seems fairly random.

By the way, how are the living arrangements with Shima going to work? Is Gregeddin paying for him, is each of them paying their own way, or are they pooling together and splitting it between them, 50% each? Today was the 1st of Autumn Twilight, so once they pay for this month, we can say that money gets them furniture, too.

The living expenses for middle class conditions is 50 STP per level, so that's 200 STP for Gregeddin and 150 STP for Shima for the month of Autumn Twilight.

Eeekk Shima needs something that'll pay, and quickly.
As a thought, is living on potatoes and greens that middle class?
