Stik, I don't think it realy matters what color we post in. It's just a means to easily determine who or what is speaking. We each have avatars so I don't realy think it's an issue.

As for waiting....We've barely entered the dungeon. Now, I think we may consider the fact that we have limited resources for healing. We can always exit the dungeon or find a safe place to rest later on if necessary. Granted the dwarf is our heavy hitter but with the rest of our party still well intact I see no reason to squander another spell and a few days for any one charcter unless they are absolutely needed. Just my opinion.

To tell you the truth Stik, I don't really give a flying twinkie who posts in what color. I am going back to black, and when I post on the gaming thread, it will be black, except when the wolf speaks it will be in red; if she is speaking to herself, then it will be in blue.

Everyone is supposed to be reading everyone's posts anyway, so the color shouldn't even be a main focal point of the game....how it became one is beyond me.

Now, the main focal point currently is:

Will the group move on without the dwarf, and let him rest alone for 8 hrs; and he will have to catch up to them later on?
- or -
Will the group stay with the dwarf and wait for 8 hrs for him to rest?

Seriously Jenara, you want the party to wait 2 days for the dwarf to rest? Currently Evis and Sim see treasure to the right of the stairs, including floating gold coins, and you expect them to wait? If, as you stated before, don't want the dwarf to be leader, than why ask that he set the pace of the entire group?

Either way, he will only gain 3HP, and considering he is the only one needing rest at this point, the rest of the party hasn't really strained itself in any way; and by the time they deal with the room to come, he probably will have gained his 3HP. Just saying, perhaps everyone would like this game to move along a bit?

Just my personal opinion of course; I'm only the DM anyway. :D

I was the one who suggested the taking a break to heal Drake.

As far as I am concerned, if one piece of the machine breaks down, and it takes no more than a hand-wave to fix it, something along the lines of "Priesty McClericson casts all but one of his Cure Lights on Dwarfy von Pincushion while we all wait outside on the lawn. The next morning we head back in," then you fix the machine and life is good.

As to squandering the spells, well, squandering only applies to things you can't get back (and if we were talking about potions of healing, I would agree with you 100%). But taking a day in the lives of the PCs to heal the heavy hitter costs the rest of us nothing but imaginary time, and the cleric gets the spells back the next day, so nothing is lost. I could see this being in issue in a Dark Sun campaign, where your sustainability is limited by how much water you have with you, but we don't have anyone chasing us and we're not chasing anyone else, so what's the down side?

Of course, all of the above is the player speaking, not the PC.
I expect that as this game progresses, there will be a lot of situations where Martin and I would have different ideas as to what's the best thing to do. This being a roleplaying game, Martin will have his way.

Hmmm....you make some valid points. I think ultimatly this may well have be better decided by characters rather than players since my decision is no doubt being influenced by the "Come on! I wanna game!!!" syndrome. Though I fear this could lead to a sort of cabin fever and then restless curiosity and ultimitly seperation anxiety.
Barring DM intervention I'll wait for the rest of the party.......maybe, or........maybe not.

Sim and glowing wolves....not good.

Attention All: If you ask a confirmation, or added detail, question in the gaming thread via OOC, please make sure to go back to your post and see if I have answered. It will read" Edit by LWW - Re OOC: (answer). Making a whole new post just to answer the question seems out of place to me, especially if there are other postings with action after the question. Thanks.

Also, a query was made about putting players in a posting order, and for the game not to continue until all players post in said order. This isn't tabletop where everyone is physically in place, and can do this type of gaming. Posting online is dependent on many factors (social activity, work, family time, etc), so that is why, before the game started, I said that players should post within a 24 hr period, and if they don't, the game will continue on and they can catch up when they finally can post.

Jenara wrote:oocOoc i assumed Drake would start at the stairs and move forward, towards his axe.

I'll try to be clearer next time. So no traps. Can i assume if has is axe now? Not sure if this should be in brainstorming! /ooc

Well, since you want to make a discussion out of this, I've moved your post to Brainstorming instead of the game thread. You asked how far his axe was inside the 10' x 10' area where the treasure is also; I told you 7'. Now in his walking, how far has Drake managed to walk in his weakened state? Does he have his axe now? I believe you're supposed to tell me if he has walked to his axe and picked it up, since you were informed of "no traps" to have stopped him. You say, " i assumed Drake would start at the stairs and move forward, towards his axe. " I believe you're supposed to state your actions, not have I, and the other players, assume your actions.

Jenara, I know this is way different from tabletop, or online gaming where folks are speaking with each other via IM or chatroom, and things can't be conveyed or answerd immediately. However, it is the same that folks can't just assume they know what each player is doing; it has to be stated.

Yes, your character wants his axe, but is now being smart about checking for traps. Is he only checking as he goes near his axe? I don't know.
Does he see Sim walking off alone and follows him, checking for traps, to make sure the old geezer doesn't get in trouble? I don't know.
Is he and Evis checking the entire L shaped room for traps first, before going to retrieve his axe? I don't know.
Does he intend to tell the party that he has detected no traps and where it is safe, or keep that info to himself? I don't know.

I don't like the idea of putting actions on someone's pc without being clear about it first.

From Private Messages, but pertient to the game itself:

So..
No insult to your DMing skills or my other party members, but there a now 5 party members. I'm not being a Drama Queen, i've tried to adapt... but i can't.

Sorry, please don't take it personally... I'll post this to the brainstorming thread later. you can write me out how you wish. hell the wolf can eat me if you like...

I posted on the other forum about how this is upsetting me. I wasn't ready to game, told you so, but you went and posted that I was dming a game. I didn't want to embarrass you by contradicting you, now I wish I had, and saved us all a lot of grief. :(

I now have to decide if I want to continue doing this with the others, if they want to continue, or just close the game.

I will now go post the death of the dwarf; anyone looting the body?

I wanted to say I was leaving the game myself, but LWW achieves the same end.

Enjoy yourselves people, she's a great DM. I just need to spend longer adjusting to a different sort of game.

Sorry to see you go Jenara. Play By Post can be most challenging at times. Perhaps if you watch a while and rejoin later with a new character?

Maybe I'm closing the barn door after the horses have left, but would it maybe be appropriate for Drake to up and walk out rather than dying? That way, if Jenara decides to come back later, she won't have to roll a new PC.

Thanks for the sentiments Guys, there was some rushing into this game done... myself included.

Drakes memory will live on... he will be re-created elsewhere, with a sidekick called Norman!

As for him dying, it was my idea, if i'm ever allowed back on this thread it will be with someone new... I didn't feel right in his skin.

Well of course Jenara can re-enter the game later on, with a new character. A suggestion was already made that she keep tabs on the game, see how it works, and then she can come back when she feels more confident with this gaming style.

So, I'm needing to just get posts on how each character is going to continue on:

1 - Go to the door on the western wall.
2 - Go pick up the treasure, including Drake's axe now, east of the stairway.
3 - Even though he was a comrade, anyone looting his body? *stares at the halfling thief*

With options 1 and 2, will the party stay together and tackle each as a group; or will the party be splitting up and tackling both, but at half strength?

Decisions, decisions......
