"It does seem like they are under some kind of spell," Jocelyn admits. With that said, Jocelyn starts praying to Octhanus to dispell any magic that might be going on here with all the fighting.

Val stands back and watches, bow at the ready in case they become targets.

"Weird." is all she can muster.

Baeros moves the party forward, save for Val who stands back with her bow. "No, don't hurt Tia," Areilon objects. "Rush the dwarf instead. He'll be easier to knock down with that limp anyway."

Ouragana creates an orb of light and rolls it ahead. However, everyone is too busy fighting for their lives to pay any attention to light.

Jocelyn prays to Octhanus to remove all magical effects around the battlefield. However, nothing happens. This suggests that either the magic compelling them to fight is stronger than the priestess...or there is no magic compelling them at all.

Unhindered, the mob continues to fight lethally. A female teenage gnome stabs an older male gnome with her short sword, killing him.

The younger of the two women with blue skin and white hair dives to grab her fallen belaying pin, but this proves to be a fatal error. The dwarf she is fighting stabs her while she is down with his dagger, then again and again until she moves no more.

An elder halfling male stabs with a dagger at an elder female half-orc, but misses. She retaliates by cutting open his throat with her short sword.

The battle between Brock and Tialis continues unabated, as well. She sidesteps a swing from his axe and stabs him again with her sword with a laugh. But Brock grits his teeth and swings again, this time giving her a nasty cut across her chest. The elf's good mood sours and she scowls at the wound.

Jocelyn looks to Arelion in disgust. "Don't hurt either one of them. Just stop the fight. Matter of fact, I'll try to stop the fight. The rest of you, try to stop the fighting between the other people." She then starts prayer again, centering her hold person prayer upon Tia and Brock.

Baeros decides to follow Jocelyn suggestion and starts with the closest mob, he gets close to the citizen near him but still out of reach and ready for attack. He shouts as loud as he can "Stop! What is going on here?!? Stop fighting each other right now!"

===================================
Baeros approaches citizens 1 and 10. He also prepares to his order failure and plans to pull back citizen 1 and command Takit to threat and keep at bay citizen 10.

Seeing that the mob is now breaking into groups and she has a chance to send one group to slumber, Ouragana casts a Sleep spell centered on the group with citizsens #6,7,14,15,16. Before, she had been afraid that anyone sent to sleep would just be butchered by he person standing next to them.

Taking action first, Ouragana begins chanting the sleep spell. The seven fighting citizens furthest south all instantly fall over, completely asleep.

Andar moves forward, cutlass at the ready. He spots the teenage female gnome, who just a minute ago slew an older male gnome. She looks ready to move on to her next opponent, but Andar blocks her way. "Stop! Why are you fighting?" he asks.

The girl hesitates before the big warrior. Andar is wearing fine armor and is quite a big fellow. She, however, is exhausted and wounded. "Who are you?" she asks. "Are you with the League? We're just trying to defend ourselves from their insanity!"

Baeros and Takit attempt to get between two of the fighters--an adult male dwarf and a halfling lass. However, he's just a second too late. The dwarf stabs the halfling in the heart, and she goes down. "Stop! What is going on here?!? Stop fighting each other right now!" Baeros demands, standing over the halfling and looking down at the dwarf.

"Filthy Leaguer!" the dwarf shouts, brandishing his dagger threateningly at the ranger. "I'll kill you all before I let you burn the place to the ground!"

Jocelyn finishes her prayer to Octhanus just as Brock slices into Tialis' leg with his axe. She attempts to roll away, when both of them just completely freeze in place.

The last bit of fighting now is between an old male gnome who is fighting against an adult female human and a teenage dwarven male. He drops his weapon and is cut down by the two, helpless to save himself. Areilon arrives shortly after, trying to block their way. "Has not enough blood been spilled this day?" she demands.

"We're only fighting for our freedom," says the human.

"That's right," the dwarf agrees. "They would lock us up for our beliefs. We won't stand for it!"

"Stay with Val," Jocelyn says to the elf. She motions to who Val is before she walks over to Tia and Brock. "What is all of this about?" She asks loud enough for pretty much all to hear.

Baeros shouts at the dwarf, "You are as thick as a trunk of fir! This is my homeland! Why would I burn it? What is going on here, you lot acting crazy killing each other? Why did you murder this little girl?" Baeros confuses the halfling for a child.

The elf moves back to stand behind Val, still scratching at his old wound.
Jocelyn wrote:"What is all of this about?"
"The Nine Hells are you?" asks an adult human female (#12).

"She's wearing the colors of Octhanus," points out the male teen dwarf (#13). "She's an outsider!"
Ouragana wrote:"How can you tell who is league and who is not?"
"The League are the ones trying to kill everyone!" shouts the female teen gnome (#2).

"We're trying to protect ourselves from your tyranny!" replies the adult human female, shaking her fist.
BishGada wrote:"You are as thick as a trunk of fir! This is my homeland! Why would I burn it? What is going on here, you lot acting crazy killing each other? Why did you murder this little girl?"
"If this is your homeland, then you know the problems the League causes," the male adult dwarf (#1) fires back. "You should be helping us to fight against them then! As for the halfling, she's a Leaguer. I had to kill her or be killed myself. It's self-defense!"

"Once again, how can you tell if someone is League? We're strangers, we need to protect ourselves, too!"
Ouragana has the suspicion that everyone is just thinking (deludedly) that the next person is "the enemy", she tries to make them see that.

"What makes you think she is a Leaguer? It looks like you just turned on each other. It didn't look like organized groups. Can you tell the other Leaguers from the rest around here?"
