Arulia's father wrote:"Those damned cultists were all over the place, harassing our customers. They drove a lot of business away. Someone should do something about them,"
Well... there is an ARMY coming for that purpose, so everyone can relax ;)

Next change self question: Can Haahqae use change self to pretend that he's dead?

"The caster cannot duplicate a specific individual."

I suppose he could theoretically make himself look like a generic dead man, but not as a dead Haahqae.

Hmm, in that case the effect would kinda be ruined. So in that case my best chance is probably still the bow.

Whoa, will Arulia be getting some company as a new character? Granted, with Burzan dead and Raena outnumbered, things aren't looking quite as dire...

I was wondering that myself, but I think Burzan was the greater threat. If he hit someone and did the absolute minimum damage he could, it would still be 14 damage, more than enough to one shot either Haahqae or Gregeddin. If he did maximum damage, that would be 26 damage which would have instantly killed either one.

BishGada wrote:(OOC: Wow! What a situation! I find it very difficult to role play. On one hand Tulbas is not stupid to say the least. He knows he stands no chance against 8th lvl mage. He have seen the spells Magnus had used and almost certain he have at least one more magic missile that would probably kill him instantly. He would also figure out he has some protection spells cast over himself. On the other hand he would never forsaken Raetmal even though he is Neutral. He is the only family left for him and he loves him.
So, what comes to mind is live today to fight another, but in that specific moment, Tulbas might believe that Magnus is distracted gloating in Raetmal's failure and try a sneak attack at Magnus. Also he is SOOO enraged that it might cloud his judgement. Was he less intelligent he would probably attack Magnus. Even if that means I would have to roll a new character :))
Yeah, I've been working on this for awhile now. Betrayal and betrayal! Magnus was especially fun, because he wears all black and gives off a lot of 'Evil' vibes, but still managed to win the party's trust to some extent.

This is a big moment for Tulbas. What he chooses to do will have a big impact on what happens next. But there are no easy answers.

Consider, even if Tulbas does somehow kill Magnus, then what? Where would he go? What would he do? His uncle cannot be moved, as Marvin said. A mere apprentice cannot hold off an entire army on his own. If he decides to abandon his uncle and run for it, where would he go? Qualinesti has closed their borders. The main road through the vale is blocked by the approaching army. According to Magnus, the army has taken most of Ansalon already.

On the other hand, to accept his deal means agreeing to serve the man who killed his uncle. And to essentially join the army that destroyed his homeland and killed his parents, as well. He could bide his time, grow stronger and perhaps get revenge when he is ready. But in the meantime, he'd have to serve Magnus as his apprentice.

Either path will have some big roleplaying moments involved.

Darga knew he was bad news from the first. Just sayin'...
Magnus wrote:"If you accept my bargain, though, I'll offer a quick and painless death to your uncle."
Daaamnnn...

I've never tried to make Haahqae a great judge of character, even if he himself thinks he is.

He may have trusted a couple too many people because they can lay down arguments against distrusting them that he can't reply to.

Tulbas does always try and see the light in every person, even when there may be none there.
But this plot is especially wicked Jaded :)

Heh, well the great thing about Magnus is that not everything he said was a lie. Some of what he said was the truth, or half-truths, which makes it easier to believe him.

For instance, one thing he said to Gregeddin was that 'within these walls, we are all brothers and sisters.' This was a response to the bard's question on why a Red Robe and a Black Robe would work together. Thing is, that is absolutely true. But the point of emphasis should have been 'these walls.' In the Tower of Wayreth, there are no conflicts, no disputes. All mages, regardless of order, work together and leave their problems at the door. But outside those walls? Anything goes. :P

As for the cultists, trusting them was never a good idea. I'm not even sure why the party chose to recruit from within their ranks, as opposed to elsewhere. But they did, and I wasn't about to pass by on that opportunity.

By the way, djhyland, tomorrow (in-game) the army arrives for the last big finale of this arc, so was there anything you wanted Arulia to do before then?

Sounds like a proper rogue wizard or a selfish black robe all-right!
I suppose it was a good litmus test for whether there was any good left in the cult, and firmly cements Gregeddin's opinion of Darewind at least.
Intervening acts aside, I can imagine some good confrontations in the future (by that I mean entertaining) :)

No, I think that Arulia has had quite enough excitement for the time being. Unless it involves getting Kendra back on her feet...

I've figured that there's only so much action and excitement to be had at home with Arulia's sisters and parents, so you'll let her be while finishing up with the rest of the characters. I'll be ready to go when you are, though!

Oh that question is easy to answer. Wis 3.
It also has something to do with Haahqae's personality/quest.

I'm just impressed he managed to convince Tulbas and Gregeddin to go along with it.
