Okay, I forgot to bring it up before, but we should discuss salary. The sisters will offer Areilon 4 gold pieces a month to be a sailor, which is pretty good. (Traditionally, the most a regular sailor can get paid is 6 gp/month, and that's limited to old salts who have spent a lifetime at sea.) Assuming she stays with them the whole year, that's 48 gold pieces. Furthermore, as a crewman of the Bullring, she gets free room and board on the ship.

Satin tunics = 4 gold pieces (8 gold pieces for two)
Red silk sashes = 10 gold pieces (20 gold pieces for both)
Black leather skirt = 1 silver piece
Black satin trousers = 15 silver pieces
Red silk capes = 3 silver pieces (6 silver pieces for both)
Fancy scabbard = 20 gold pieces
Sexy satin dress = 6 gold pieces
Crossbow Training = 50 gold pieces

Assuming you approve of this, that means she spends 106 gold, 2 silver and earns 48 gold, meaning she only loses 58 gold, 2 silver total. Selling her old cape will net her 1 copper, her tunic will get her 4 silver, her old sash will get her 5 silver, the trousers get her 1 copper, the white linen dress goes for 6 silver and the skirt, being damaged, is worthless. So that adds 1 gold, 5 silver and 2 copper to the grand total.

How much gold does she want to trade in for a gem?

Wearing fancier clothing like this will help give her better reactions in certain situations (when dealing with the wealthy or nobility, for instance), but if she's in the poor side of town, it can also make her stand out too much.

First, here is my wonderful HP roll.

HPs (1d10+1=2)

Second, the whole anti-social thing is part of the role-play thing. I think I have stretched her INT and CHA scores a bit even with the little socializing she has done. Perhaps there is a difference interpretation for the low score that might allow more interaction.

Of course Val can teach Arie to swim!

As for some of the wish list, Val has a few thoughts.

A saddle or harness for Mist, so she doesn't have to ride bareback, and passengers don't either.
Some type of saltwater resistant armor, better than shark hide. Prolly just a chest piece and leggings.
She can shop for a trident too, and maybe some potions.
Val, spending so much time in the water, is concerned about weight, needs to convert gold to ???

Wow, you actually rolled a 1 on HP again? Look, I don't normally do this, but as you are the group's warrior, I'm going to let you reroll that one if you like. Otherwise, at this rate, Ouragana is going to surpass Val in HP.

A saddle for a whale...hmm, I'm going to have to do some research on how much that will cost.

What kind of armor is salt-water resistant and better than shark hide (dire shark hide)? I'll have to do some research on that, too. I'm sure I can come up with something.

A fine trident (which offers a non-magical +1 to either hit or damage, but not both) costs 115 gp while an exceptional (or masterwork) trident (which offers a non-magical +1 to both hit and damage) costs 315 gp. (Buying an outright magical trident is far outside her price range.)

What kind of potions? What kind they are will determine where she'll have to go to buy them.

I went ahead and converted the gold bar into gold coins. You can trade them for something even lighter if you want when you're finished shopping.

Does Val stay on with the Bullring? They'll offer her a salary of 3 gp a month (less than Areilon, because Val has far less sailing experience) and free room and board. If she stays, how long does she stay? (She'll need to stay at least a month if she wants to teach Areilon how to swim.)

Potions: Healing and water breathing

Let's start with a month, it'll take that long to get a saddle made. And, Arie needs to know how to swim, just in case.

Well, we'll add the last two rolls together, and add 5 HP to her total. Hopefully your luck will have changed by 4th level.

Too bad one of the dragons got away and the other two are at the bottom of the ocean. Even if she did have some black dragon hide, it costs like 10,000 gp to make dragon hide armor. But hey, maybe that can be a personal goal for her to accomplish someday in the future.

Potions of Healing and Waterbreathing could probably be found at a big enough temple. It's reasonable to assume the Bullring swings by Sanctuary at some point. Or she goes there herself, if that's the case. But as she's not a follower of Octhanus, there is a slight price hike. I'll say she can buy Potions of Healing for 62 gp each and Potions of Waterbreathing for 188 gp each.

By the way, if Val spends a month on the Bullring, where does she spend the remaining 11 months of the year?

And she is keeping the linen dress.. I forgot to mention that, plus I think a nightgown of some kind, silk.

And wow on the dice rolls Nuke! Scary bad... Thanks for Teaching Arei, perhaps the two of them can work on Vals interaction with others? Teach her some basics of behavior? I'd like it if they stuck together.

The salary works really well, she might remember how to work with a crew again...

Okay, a silk nightie will cost another 10 gold pieces. And she can trade in 400 gold pieces for a nice garnet gemstone.
