She flinches at Mira’s touch, but peeks between her fingers when she hears the bard’s voice. I thought… I thought he’d come back… He is a wandering bard and a woodsman who has been seeking my hand… As you can see, he has a violent temper… she shudders visibly. He cannot cope with my rejection of him… But, who are you? She finally sees the others around Mira and looks sad, I’m sorry you children had to see me this way… A second look at Elsa and her mace changes the girl’s features. She gives Pyros and Cal a closer look and begins to seem a little uncomfortable around the trio of small folk.

"Travellers, from far away.. I'm Mira. I play at the Wayfarer- damn I have show! Are you OK to stand? We'll get you away from here, its not safe out, or so I'm told." She keeps her voice level, motioning for the others to step back.. "Please don't be alarmed."

"Marry me?! I don't even know your name!! Oh him! WHYWOULDYOUMARRYHIM?! IF I ever see that despicable man again, I will fillet him with a rusty spoon! Marry him, you should be reporting him to the authorities! My friend King Ratslayer would have a few choice things to show that ridiculous excuse for a man." Pyros will huff.
He will then try to get a shoulder under the ladies arm.
"Let's take her to the Wayfayer, we can protect you there, and we can see about cleaning up your wounds."

"Good plan Pyros." Mira hooks her arm under the girl and helps her stand.

I didn't know Devon was there but Artanis wouldn't care.
Artanis does not put back the food he procured and coldly and flatly says to Devon: "Listen, Mr. High and Mighty Nancie Boy. When we were fighting the creature that you guards couldn't contain or handle, you were curled up in a ball, sucking your thumb crying for your mommy. In fact you'd be dead if Yasir and I had not placed ourselves between you and it. In order for us to continue fighting all of these menaces beyond the town walls, we are going to need provisions. Consider these a donation to aid with our efforts beyond the walls where we will be unable to purchase provisions. Wake up and smell the coffee. Your boss locked you in here as well hoping you would be killed too."

I went in there to uphold the law. He retorts, And we'll see how well you fare when a friend of yours is torn apart next to you! he practically shouts. Coming to the aid of a constable does NOT give you the liberty to just take whatever you want. He calms visibly. Those goods are the property of the constabulary of Harmonia. Taking then would be stealing from the citizen's paid taxes. I'm giving you one last chance to put them back. he says with a dead calm. A horrifying beast and watching his friend being torn apart might rattle the young guard, but it is clear Artanis himself does not... aside from infuriating him perhaps.

Cal stands next to the sobbing woman, then casts a cantrip to clean her up a little. "I am no child." he says. "Where can we find this man?"

Cal, Cross, Elsa, Mira and Pyros: Alley behind the Jail
Oh… I heard something about a gypsy who traveled with… the words fall off as she looks again to the others. So you are her... The girl smiles sadly at Pyros, You are braver than I, little one. Mira and Pyros help her stand while Cal uses a cantrip to clean her up, which startles her a little but not for long. As they begin to return down the alley she falters and looks as if she is about to begin crying again. He will not be found… he has hideaways in the woods and knows the land like few others… it would be foolish to try, he is a dark and powerful man with many allies. Her thoughts, however, seem to gradually turn in a more pleasant direction and a bit of color returns to her face. With a dreamy, far-away look in her eyes she speaks again in the hushed voice of someone sharing a deep secret.
You see, I love another. My heart is pledged to the good and kind Dr. Dominiani. He lives in a neighboring land known as Gundarak and works day and night to cure others of their ills. I was just speaking to one of his servants before I was discovered and… Again she seems about to break into tears, but pushes through. Oh, if only I had one of those mythical knights in shining armor to come to my rescue… but fairy tales are for children… they will do me no good now… and yet… she seems on the verge of asking them something, but refrains.
Artanis, Devon and Yasir: Kitchen of the Jail
Yasir leans casually against the wall watching the back-and forth with amusement.

"Now that sounds like a real man, willing to help others, probably does not beat those he "loves"... maybe after a safe night at the Inn, and Mira's music to lift your spirits, we can get you to this land, maybe it is on our way to the other town we want to go to? Hot water? Steamy Skin?"

OOC: My last post never posted.
Artanis puts the food stuff down - all of it, and turns to regard Devon. The ranger coldly and flatly states:
"I DID watch a friend and comrade get attacked and gouged by one of those creatures. I fought back, and didn't curl up into a little ball. You may keep the tax payer's precious provisions."
Artanis quickly draws both of his swords and stares intently at the guard.
"But, you said it was my last chance to put them down. Strong words. How do you intend to back up those words?"

Indeed, little one. He is just and kind and thinks of others before himself. Gundarak is the land to the north, a full day's journey from here. She looks confused at Pyros' apparently random words until recognition strikes her. Do you mean Skald? It is indeed on the way! She sighs, Would I could simply go to meet my love, but the woodsman would find me and bring doom do my beloved... There is but one hope for me to be freed of the cruel hand fate has dealt. I must find some way to retrieve the Crown of Soldiers lost long ago by my ancestors. I have consulted with an old gypsy woman who cast the bones on my behalf. Surely my love could do wondrous things unimaginable with an artifact of its caliber! I believe I now know where it rests, but the place is fraught with danger and one such as I could never hope to survive. finally they make thwir way back to the woodshed, hearing voices within the kitchen.
The kitchen
Devon looks satisfied with Artanis' answer and return of the goods; right up until the point the ranger draws his weapons. A dark cast comes over the young man's features, and his hand rests on his sword hilt. I will do my duty. But as you have decided not to break the law, I have no quarrel with you any longer.. Through the doorway Artanis hears the rest of the party return to the woodshed.
