Talking of which, in case anyone's interested but not 100% up on the rules, the elven chain shirt allows its use as if a character were proficient even though that wouldn't otherwise be the case. Woody would be a good example. This elven chain shirt also has a +1 enhancement bonus to AC! Obviously the Bracers of Defence wouldn't work with the elven chain shirt but the bracers could always be passed on, for example, to Jim. (Monks can use Bracers of Defence without penalty.)

Chain shirt is AC13 and caps Dec AC mod at +2.
Elven chain grants proficiency and also an additional AC mod +1 which stacks with the above.
You have found something extra special: magical elven chain shirt which has a magical enhancement AC bonus +1 which stacks with the above, so total of AC15 plus Dex bonus +2 max.
