I'm going to say it doesnt affect it at all unless the resistant creature is the target of a darkess spell. walking through or being in an area of magical darkness would be the same as for any other creature.

So she was partway up the wall and climbing (meaning she couldnt use the bow until she had both hands free) and the goblins werent visible to the arty until Katten and Nocturno reached the area just below the peak. At that point the goblins popped up into view so they could reach Nocturno and Katten with their weapons. so she didn't actually have an opportunity to shoot at one

Pyros is still the chosen one. Even when he fails a roll it makes for a better RP experience anyway.
