Re: Brainstorming
i uh, wasnt really planning on it...being that evis is highly super stitious, and the concept of the dwarf simply falling over dead for no apparent reason makes him want to get very far away from here!

Nice to add that little tidbit in when the thief is really needed.Wizard_of_Wumbo wrote:i uh, wasnt really planning on it...being that evis is highly super stitious, and the concept of the dwarf simply falling over dead for no apparent reason makes him want to get very far away from here!
ooc i forgot to put on the character sheet that evis is very superstitious, magic amazes and terrifies him, he believes the current event of the dwarf dieing to be...magical in its nature, an evil magic no doubt/ooc
Ok, so does that mean that the thief is going to be almost paralysized with fear throughout the entire dungeon? I'm not understanding how this character will be able to work with the party on anything, if he fears it's magical, so refuses to go near something, or help out in saving a party member, like with Martin's situation now.
I approved your character as is, and adding in something that will, more than likely, be detrimental to the existence of the entire party is not very fair Wumbo. Sorry, but you just can't have your character standing around doing nothing all the time, and the rest of the party has to do all the work. The thief needs to put his balls back on, and do what he can to save Martin.
Additional Note: I checked your character sheet, and you altered it without discussion or approval. This now reads on your sheet:
Edit by LWW (07-23-10): Deleted alteration to Weaknesses: "he is incredibly superstitious...to the point where magic terrifies him and amazes him at the same time."
You cannot alter your character without discussing it with me, and getting my approval. This is unfair to other players.

It's not a matter of "catering to the group", it's a matter of the group working together. They can't if one of them is just standing around wringing his hands and whining in fear. In one campaign I gamed in, I played a dark elf high priestess that was terrified of bug bears. I made sure the dm and group knew this from the very beginning of the game. The dm, in his wisdom

Re: Brainstorming
ok yeah, i phrased that strangly...anyway, its not like a phobia or paralyzing fear...its more that he distrusts it, while being fascinated with it. I just wanted to give him a bit of flavor, but i knew that him curling up into a sniveling ball would make him...frankly...useless. So! im just gonna have him buck up and not be such a cowardly shrew

I hate to be the guy who metagames, but: Must go faster - must go faster - must go faster.
Martin will not survive another round of this.

This is the third time I have dm'd this game, and the first time I have lost any players. The portcullis and gel cube are the easiest of the dungeon; what the heck will you guys do if you go beyond that?!?

First time you've DMed it on PBMB, though, right?

Wrong Stik, it has always been online via PBMB, and it ran for months with no casualties; lots of cursing at the DM, but no lives lost.

Should have tried it tabletop though, and seen how different it would have been. Hubby and I are trying to start a gaming group in our new area, but most people are into Magic the Gathering and video games, not rpg.

The waste of a heal spell on a player that was removed is going to be the cause for the death of at least one player. So...
It is all good.

Ah, lets just call that a "learning experience".

---------------
Further on, I started a new job this week, hurrah!! However, one of my dogs had to be taken to emergency, and we still don't know if she'll recover or not at this time, so I'm a bit out of sorts.
To make things a bit easier, I'm letting the party rest for two days, and allowing that all characters, well except for Drake of course, will be fully healed. The Cube will be destroyed, and the treasure will be up for grabs. Once everyone decides who gets what, I will tell each one what they have acquired.
Also, a hint....when the she-wolf addresses one of you privately, take advantage of speaking back with her!!! This is an opportunity to, perhaps, get needed information, or a hint to the solving of a puzzle.....

So, big hint for all now....once the door puzzle is solved, and you enter the next part of the dungeon, you will all level up to 4...and you will need it.
