Sim sees nothing of magic on the fallen Dwarf and is preparing to investigate the area beyond when Martin, Clearly in some distress, barks out a series of commands.
Sim turns toward the direction of the door and stands ready, staring at the area where the wolf had been moments before.

Sim cries out "WOLF, WOLF!" pointing at the door and then "Awwww, its gone". He turns to the party behind him.

"I just saw the......Oh! What? Magic? Well of course I can see magic! Although it is strange, since the area with the floating Martin should radiate an aura but the only magic I see are the five vials, glowing battle axe and jeweled sword. Unless of course the arua was concealed, but then you have to wonder why let coins float about and then conceal a magic aura although I would prorbably do just that. Not that I did but if I did I would." Sim rambles then abruptly takes a breath and smiles as Martin turns in slow motion. "Oh! That looks like fun!"

*Except for what the mage has stated he sees illuminated with a magical aura, there is nothing else in the part of the room where Martin seems "paralysized" in. There are no traps, hidden or sprung. Suddenly, those standing nearby Drake's body can hear a sucking type noise; they see the dwarf's body jerk and slowly start to slide in the same direction where Martin is now. If anyone reaches down to touch the dwarf's upper area (assuming when he fell, he was facing the 10' area, so his arms and head would be closer), they would feel a warmth emanating from him, and a sort of jello-like substance, and their own hands might start to feel numb.*

(OOC - roll for paralysis if touching the dwarf's upper body area: uppper chest, shoulders, head, arms; include this info in your post.))

*Emanating from deep within the dungeon, music and raucous singing drift to the comrades ears. A definite indication that their newest predicament is just a joke to the denizens of this realm.*

"Well I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you.
I wanna make you move, because you're standin' still.
If your body matches, what your eyes can do.
You'll probably move right through me, on my way to you."

Kleos shouts "Move from the Dwarf!" and throws his torch at the dwarfs body.

After Kleos reaks fire upon the corpse he nocks an arrow ready and touches the symbol for a tart. Hoping something bad does not happen.

*The tart symbol retracts into the door, and remains so; nothing happens, but the door stays locked. The torch hits the armored dwarf's body, bounces and lays to one side of him, near his upper torso. His body stops moving momentarily, as if whatever had ahold of him had let go. But his body jerks once again and begins moving towards the treasure area (moved a total of 1 foot now, has 4 feet to go before the body reaches the opening), so whatever let go, has now reattached.*

Kleos tries to finish what he started and grab a lit torch off the wall and tries to set the dwarf body on fire while muttering prays to Kelemvor and Moradin for forgiveness.

Evis stands with his back to the wall, watching his comrades be...helpful, he latches onto one of the many necklaces around his neck and mutters to himself, slowly pulling himself together...

a-alright then, so! one of us has died, but the rest of us wont...i sware on my...my um...something very important!

He jumps up and moves over to Sim, nodding to kelos and the cleric with the false assumption that we have everything under control, he addresses the mage. With a small hint of fear still lingering in his crooked grin.

well mage, you're bound to know something about the current situation! i know nothing about magic...but i know instruments of death like the back of my hand...so, we need to sort out this...predicament
indeed...<br>

(( Para Save: 13 ))

Beilion moves from the dead dwarf if possible. He takes a step back to get out of the line of sight of the other warrior types. If there is a monster doing something with the corpse and the floating gold, he does not want to be standing between the group and it.

(( will post more pending save results ))

Sim's face takes on a sudden and intense look of calculation. His eyes seem to burn with sudden realization.
"By the gods!" he cries and flings off his backpack as Snickerpuss clings to the straps for dear life. Sim throws open the flap and begins to rumage, almost tossing a half eaten apple then thinking better of it, he stuffs it back in the bag and produces.........A 50' length of silk rope and a ceramic flask of Lantern oil.

"Hoho! Here we are! Quickly now, there's not much time."
He hands the flask of oil to Evis and stands with the rope in one hand, staff now resting against the wall.
"Cleric, take this rope and tie it around yourself "
Sim flings the rope to the Cleric.
"Dive in after our gravity sticken friend and once you have him we shall pull you both free. Evis! Take the flask and throw it into the same room once we are clear."
Sim turns to Kleos,
"Kleos fire a flaming arrow at the flask once we're free and ALL OF YOU PRAY FOR OUR GOOD FORTUNE! TALLLYHO!"

*Kleos intent to burn the dwarf's body causes the Gelatinous Cube to again let go of the body; the flames from the torch ignite the hair on the dwarf's head and face, causing the Cube to further retreat from the body.*

*The Cleric avoids being effected by the Cube's paralysizing power, so can help with Sim's plan of attack, if he is so willing.*

*Evis can help save Martin with Sim's plan, if he is so willing.*

*Martin, floating within the Cube, takes 6HP of damage, since the Cube has begun its secretion of digestive juices*

Evis stands where he is, backing up slightly, waiting for his moment to get a clear shot in with the oil...when the time is right he hurls it into the room and signals kleos, or shoots it himself if kleos does not/cannot...

Beilion says in a rather assertive voice. "Yeah well, retreat after we get our friend out of the cute little magic thing, there." He asks. "What do you mean by gravity? It looks like a rather invisible beast trying to eat our friend." The Cleric has no plans of jumping into the same trap from the looks of it. "It seems to run from fire. Light it up! We need to get Martin out of it!"

Sim rolles his eyes in exasperation.

"Gravity. All the wizards are talking about it. Most probably a psionic feild surrounding any significantly large object as it moves through the void. It's what keeps us from floating away when the wind blows. Of course no one has yet really detected this force but in Practical Application Theory it makes perfect sence. It's what makes a pully and weight system effective and.....Oh never mind. I'll go in after him then. You had better pull me out or I WILL come back as a wraith and haunt you all! This should be fun!

Sim ties the rope around his waist, steps back against the wall and launches himself forward, leaping into the 10' area with the treasure, and diving forward to grab Martin.

*Kleos' waving of the torch does nothing to release Martin; all it does is keep the Cube within the confined 10' x 10' area. His not acknowledging Sim causes the mage to wonder if the archer intends to fire a flaming arrow at the oil flask that Evis intends to toss at the Cube once Martin is released.*

(Sim's save vs para=14)
*Sim successfully jumps into the Cube, grabbing ahold of one of Martin's legs. However, he now has to wonder if anyone has ahold of the other end of the rope, and is attempting to pull them out.*

*Evis stands ready with the oil flask.*

Beilion grabs the rope with a mild look of surprise. Everyone knows magic is the primary force behind the function of the universe. He bows to the slightly insane mage and makes plans to help him when possible. "It is as you say, brave one."

Edit by LWW: Evis and Kleos, you might want to help the Cleric pull that rope, since he's not that strong----just a hint.
