Well, to give you all something to dream of: Here's the link to the castle (or rather, a fortified manor) I was thinking of. They rent rooms for gatherings, and they often have reenactors around, too. Unfortunately, the site is all in German. As we are close to Stuttgart with all its industrial jobs (just think of Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Bosch and Stihl), the touristic sector is way underdeveloped: it's far easier to make money with a job there than by running a B&B or restaurant. It's picking up, but mostly for day trips.

http://www.waescherschloss.de shows you the little castle of a vassal to the Staufer dynasty, who were Emperors of Germany and much of Italy in the 12th century. The timberwork of the house is from the 15th century, the roof beams from the 17th, but the form and foundations are original.

When I couldn't find any photos of the castle nearest to us in the internet, I thought I'd change that. We went there today and I took photos to upload on photobucket. You can see them here:

http://s1182.photobucket.com/albums/x44 ... nrechberg/

Hohenrechberg was built in the early 14th century and continuously enlarged into the 17th century. It was a representative castle more than a defensive one. It hosted an administrator of the Staufer dynasty who was later promoted into the nobility, then acquired the rank of count.

The castle was never taken, but surrendered twice. It was not destroyed in any war, but lightning struck in 1865 and set it on fire.
An auntie or so of my husband's grandmother is said to have claimed that she helped the family to get valuables out of those parts of the castle that weren't yet on fire. As she was the village smith's daughter and young girls often were maidservants to the counts at that time, there is some credibility to her story...

Ughhh,

Right this isn't going as planned, life and my own stupidity is getting in the way...
Sometimes wonder if I made the right choice saying I would do this...

Right Enough self doubt.

Please give me till tomorrow and I will have the maps for the game, kindly found by Jaded, then I can really get this rolling!!

I am so sorry.

Right. I said it was haunted right? Lol.

Don't have my books at hand but i believe at save vs fear is the same as a save vs spell. Wisdom mods will apply.

Want to see what echo does before i post what happens next.

Those in the kitchen could always go in into the drawing room..

Jen --

Don't be so hard on yourself, you're doing a great job! We all knew when we signed up for a PBMB that the pace wouldn't be crazy fast...that's the whole idea :-) I know I only get to check up on the game once or twice a day at the most. We're all here to play a classic and have fun, so just do your best and that'll be fine by me (I think I speak for the group here). No pressure!

That said, I'm going to be getting married this weekend and then hitting the beach for a week! I'll likely be out of touch Friday/Saturday/Sunday but as soon as I get my ass on vacation I'll be back in posting form. Just wanted to give you all a heads up so you wouldn't think the studly ranger-type abandoned you.

I guess it's vacation time for all of us. Luna and I will leave next Saturday for two weeks, with no access to the internet the first week. So Robbo, I'd say you should dedicate your honeymoon to what it's meant for...

He's brilliant isnt he? An amazing Character, unfortunately chatting to a what appears to be programmed Illusion isn't really productive...!!!

He will get his chance to chat away real soon..

You know for the first couple of posts in the original game I built him for, I was actually going to play Searos straight? Just a good natured thief who sometimes got himself into trouble. I don't know what made me change my mind but an idea of a slightly crazier thief popped into my head and I decided "screw it! I'm doing that!" I decided to combine various manic characters and include a little 4th wall/self-awareness busting just for fun. I figured he has a 9 wisdom or something like that. Might as well have fun with it. Little bit of Bender from Futurama, little bit of Jack Sparrow from Pirates of Carribean, and depending on my mood, little bit of the Joker and little bit of Deadpool.

There's a NWP I plan to take eventually called "fast talking" out of the Thief's handbook. I don't remember whether it uses CHA or WIS but it just seems like such an in-character thing for Searos to have.

He can take it at the required level, it suits him well.
