Goldmoon and Riverwind follow Laurana and Tanis.

"What makes you uneasy, Laurana? The halls of the ancestors are a place of honoring and reminiscence, and a path leading to them a path of reverence, isn't it so? Do you Elves not honor your dead?"

"We honor the dead, once we used to bury them in houses of stone such as this, the great Kithinkanan is buried in a tomb similar to this, or so the stories say." She shudders once more, "These days we often build Cairns, we allow the spirit to ascend to the Heavens..." She does not elaborate further, going silent.

The party begins descending the stairs, the light of Raistlin's staff their only source of illumination. The stairs go on for some time, and just when it starts to feel like they may never end, they finally do.

The party finds themselves in a massive underground chamber. Dim light shines up through the floor. A vast hall stretches to the east. The ceiling, heavily reinforced, stands solidly above, but below, the floor has fallen away in several places. Hot mists, carrying the odor of decay, rise through the holes in the floor.

"Hmm. This place is not safe at all," Flint notes. "Stay away from that edge."

"Is it dangerous?" Tas asks with twitchy feet. He looks at the ledge and Flint. "Can I go first?" He is serious...for about three seconds and starts chattering. "After Flint, of course! Flint's great at spotting the danger. I can help him."

"Yes, Master Flint, please tell us where it is safe to go" Goldmoon aks the dwarf.

"Oh my, no it isn't safe." Laurana exclaims, what else did she expect, a simple walk in the woods? No that would be her other life. "I don't like this." She pulls herself close to Tanis, watching his face darken as she does so, he was always so grumpy these days, like the world was on his shoulders, well.. actually maybe it was.

"Which way Master Flint?"

The dwarf shakes his head. "The ground is far too unstable. It's better to go around. Either that way," he says, pointing to the tunnel to the north, "or that way," he says, turning to point to the tunnel to the south.

"Should we split up?" Laurana asks, waiting for someone more important to answer.

"I suggest we check the doors in turn, rather than separate." Sturm replies, eying the doors curiously, he keeps away from the unstable edge.

"Yes, we should do these in turn, because we don't know how long it will take. Any group coming back wouldn't know how long the others would take, and waiting here makes us easy targets." Goldmoon agrees with Sturm. "Why not try north first?"

Tanis agrees, too. "North it is then."

Entering the north tunnel, they find it bends to the east. They find row upon row of dark and musty crypts that line either side of a 10' wide, 30' tall hall.

There's a tunnel to the south, or they can continue down the crypt toward the east.

"Oh!" Tas hops up and looks at the passages. "Can I look?" He offers to inspect the passages ahead.

(( Not sure what the GM is having us roll, but I am fine with the GM rolling for me if it speeds the game up. ))

Goldmoon nods. "I'll come with you." She is curious about the burial practices in the old city. What can she see?

Laurana hangs back with the rest of the group, allowing Goldmoon and Tas to venture forwards.

"There is something creepy about this, something unknown." She shudders hand on her sword hilt.

"I will go with you, I have no fear of the dead." Sturm comments solemnly, his hand on his weapon, "Tas watch where you step, do not touch anything!" He warns, walking forwards with Goldmoon, bowing to Laurana as he does so.
