"Hello. We are expecting some items from John. Is he in? I'm Mira by the way." She offers him a smile.

Artanis Auir

Artanis stands and walks in the shop behind Mira. (I'm assuming she's still at John's shop) He peers around to see if that silvered long sword is within view. But he won't purchase it from the apprentice, as John offered him a "hunter's discount".

Artanis recognizes this fellow from last night, but doesn't know who he is.

Artanis, Cross, Elsa, Mira, Pyros: Blacksmith Shop
Sleeping. He says to the bard in Harmonian. She had a feeling those unblinking pale green eyes were taking in and cataloging every detail of the group. Which items?

Artanis follows the women inside and Terry looks him over as well. To the Ranger those eyes belong on some kind of animal, rather than a man... The longsword he was looking at yesterday isn't anywhere apparent. Elsa looks at the bard expectantly and opens her mouth to speak just as Pyros bursts into the shop.

A couple of minutes later Cal and Yasir reach the outside of the smithy, spotting Cross at the next shop down.

Cal walks over to Cross. "Closed, aren't they?"

(OOC: "Cross, what do your elf ears hear?")

Yasir walks into the shop* as if he owns it, looking around to see if John is available to talk to. He nods as he recognizes the others and smiles at Mira, moving forward to stand near her. Yasir will be looking for his sword that he left with John and fingers the gold in his pocket, repetitively counting them over and over.

[OOC: I just realized that Mira is the only one who knows Terry’s name, which she would have found out during her month-long stay prior to the party’s arrival]

Artanis, Elsa, Mira, Pyros, Yasir: Blacksmith Shop
Yasir struts into the smithy behind the others and spots John’s apprentice… what’s-his-name… The warrior moves to stand by Mira and gives her a smile. Checking the benches and shelves he doesn’t see his short sword, but begins fidgeting with his coin absently. Hullo! Pyros pipes up in Elven. Do you have a new puzzle I can trade this in for? he asks. The young man’s eyes cut to the Kender, the barest hint of surprise to them. Without a word he takes the offered puzzle and examines it. Two long steps take him to the wall where the other ironwork contraptions are and he swaps it for another. Handing the new device to Pyros the corner of his mouth quirks up almost imperceptibly.

Oh! You understood him? Elsa asks in Elven. John was working on some silver sling-bullets for me… do you… she pauses, clearly not used to the redhead’s odd manner, Can you tell me if they’re ready? The young man, easily half-again her height, nods and reaches beneath a work-bench. He sets a small cloth pouch on the table before her and takes out what looks to be a ball of silver the size of a sling stone. The work is very fine and it is impossible to tell if the object is pure silver or merely encased in it since no seams are visible. Twelve pieces, one silver each. he says in the same flat, emotionless Elven that Merrick uses. Umm… thanks, the Halfling says as she pays him before turning to the Kender, Do you want some of them Pyros? she asks.

Cal and Cross: The Silver Scale
Cross hears the latch on the shutters release just before they swing open, bringing him face-to-face with Merrick! Something seemed a little off about him at first, perhaps it was the lack of recognition in those blue-violet eyes… It is then that he realizes this is not the half-elf from the night before! The two could easily pass for twins, however, if this one weren’t likely a couple of decades older. His long straight black hair somewhat longer than Merrick’s is loosely gathered at his nape by a wooden clasp, and his eyebrows rise almost imperceptibly at the sight of the white-haired Elf and Gnome.

The shop beyond is neat and clean; and the familiar smell of herbs and potions and crisp parchment wafts through the opening. Good morning, He greets them in almost a-tonal Elven, as if all of the joy and music had slowly drained from the language. I am just opening up. My name is Serath Allanision, please come in. With that he moves away from the window and the shop door opens.

The narrow room beyond resembles the Toad’s Toe in some respects with its many racks and shelves behind the counter. Spellbooks, writing materials, potions and scrolls, as well as a hefty collection of reference volumes line the wooden wall; anything a mage would ever need. Some less expensive and mundane items are set out in the customer area before the counter, unlike Rautant’s shop in the shady part of town. A narrow door to the right leads to a small windowless room with a desk and chair marks the second difference.

Serath lifts a small, hinged section of the counter and steps beyond; closing it behind him. Once the shock of resemblance passes, Cross notices that the clothing he wears is almost identical to the Elven garb on Krynn, though hopelessly out of style. I don’t recall seeing you gentlemen before. New to town?

Artanis Auir

Artanis is racking his brain to try and recall what types of creatures he has encountered or studied that have green eyes. The creature he and Erodth encountered and golden eyes that mesmerized Erodth. Artanis politely asks in elvish: "John and I discussed the silvered longsword, that I could purchase for 22 gp and 5sp. Is that still available? And what would you give me for this short sword? It was made somewhere very far away from Harmonia." The ranger quips with a slight grin.

Artanis, Elsa, Mira, Pyros, Yasir: Blacksmith Shop
The apprentice nods and fishes around under the table for a moment but soon comes up with the longsword Artanis described. As the man searches, the Ranger racks his brain for any eyes he thinks might fit that neutral stare... no animal comes to mind but he recalls John's eyes are green as well... though the burly man's are of a much sharper and darker hue... Laying the weapon on the table the taller man nods, John's price, yes. He looks to Yasir, then to Mira beside him. His will be ready later. He says, indicating the warrior. Accepting the Ranger's short sword, the young man examines it closely, testing the balance and taking a few swipes with it away from the party. Five gold, he replies to the Ranger's inquiry in Elven.

Cal and Cross: The Silver Scale
Serath gives the Elf a second appraising look and seems to consider his question for a long moment before replying. I left Sithicus quite some time ago... though I suppose it might not seem so long for one of the full-blood. he says quietly. If you're interested in history, I may have a volume or two around but it would be sorely lacking compared to what you'd find in Mal-Erek, Hroth or even Har-Thelen...

"Can anyone tell me what weirdo here said?" Replies Yasir in a slightly irritated tone, not at all comfortable with strangers acting strange. He looks around the shop hoping to spot John, hiding in a corner maybe.

"I am interested in purchasing as many as he has! Also, I was wondering about gold bullets... John seemed to scoff at the idea before, but silver seems to be a no brainer." Pyros will say in Elven.

"Pyros, I'm not sure how useful they would be. Gold is pretty soft and I think Silver is... Useful." Mira reaches over and rubs Yasir's chest. "Sorry" she whispers.
