That's Dragonlance.
Nexus told me that War of the Lance was a 3e AD&D campaign.
Or is the Nexus lying to me again ;-;

Nexus LIIIIIES!
... sorry to be the one to tell you...
there is an AD&D "Dragonlance Adventures" book that has details for War of the Lance... from 1987...
Also there is an old NES game I have for War of the Lance that may be older than 3E D&D...

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
Dragonlance is a 1E setting. It was made in 1984. It was later updated to 2E, then SAGA, then 3E. There are no official updates for 4E or 5E, although there are fan versions. The original modules for War of the Lance (in which you play the Heroes of the Lance) are all in 1E.
So there is a 3E version of it. It's just not the oldest one.
The 3E materials are actually really great. Incredibly detailed lore. I often collect the 3E books just for the flavor parts.

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
Wow! you post a LOT on the OOC thread. It seems to become a trend.
Haaque, sorry for transforming you to kender. I just usually see him as one.
I don't mind collecting the money (don't expect to see it all returns back) and helping with spells might be a practice for The Test. Maybe Magnus will join the circus too. And maybe we can convince a Red Dragon to join too.
BTW 300 not seeing dragons and missing (I know missing might be a not the exact term is this context) them... Wouldn't polymorph other will be the easy way to create army of dragons, instead hatching the eggs?
Also polymorph other can be the solution for extinct or almost extinct species...
Not sure ioun stone will survive Lava diving though.TristenC wrote:Jaded is correct, there is a Lvl 2 arcane spell called "Filter" and is in Complete wizard, Chapter 8: New spells
There is an ioun stone (iridescent spindle) that sustains a person without air... that would likely be much harder to acquire than a spell.

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
Nah, I plan to find already living ones.
There are only two places to find them.
The Islands (Hah, like I'll get past Mr. Goldy)
A cave somewhere.
Yes, I've been posting a lot in OOC because if we had a shoutbox, this would be 100% easier.

You can't polymorph into something you've never seen before. If dragons are extinct or have been missing for over a thousand years, how could one polymorph into one?BishGada wrote:BTW 300 not seeing dragons and missing (I know missing might be a not the exact term is this context) them... Plus, polymorphing does not give a person the special abilities of whatever they are turning into. A polymorphed dragon would not have a breath weapon, for instance. So even then, they would not be true dragons.
Re: WotL OOC Thread III
regarding your OoC message:
Well if we're setting it up like the performance in the bard handbook, then I'm going to want a few more numbers
My target market are baaz soldiers in Haven, I need to determine how many baaz soldiers there are in the city, and my expected market penetration then I'd be able to make an estimate on how many people I expect to show up.
For example, if there were 3000 baaz soldiers in Haven, and I expected to advertise/convince 2% of them to show up to the performance (and pay for it), then I can expect 600 guests, with a certain margin of error.

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
The city demographics are here.
Just for the Baaz and nothing else (no goblins, no kapaks, etc.), there are about 1800 of them. Keep in mind, though, that there is no point in the day where ALL of them are off duty at the same time. Assume that about half of them are working at any given time, so it's actually around 900.
By the way, BishGada, do you know that part of the Test is using ALL of the spells you know? Not the ones you have memorized, but all of the ones you know? So the more spells you learn, the longer your Test is going to be, just so you know.

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
I was referring to Polymorph Other, that as far as I understand truely turns one creature to the other one with all relevant powers. But the logic of 'if you don't know that creature you can polymorph any other creature to it' holds still... more or less... after all it is magic and when you polymorph one creature to the other you don't need to know it's physical mechanism, it just occurs, so if you read of dragons in the old legends, I guess it up to the gods (DM) if to allow it or not
I didn't know that about the test. I thought it's a theoretical multiple choices test.
With death penalty... that is.
I thought you are challenged with some problem and the more spells you know opens more doors to solve the problem.
I think Tulbas would still prefer to increase his repertoire.

Re: WotL OOC Thread III
You'd still need to be lvl 7 to cast either polymorph spell...
Re: WotL OOC Thread III
Nope. Polymorph Other does grant physical abilities, but not magical or special abilities. So a person polymorphed into a dragon could still fly, but not have a breath weapon. The spell description even mentions breath weapons specifically.BishGada wrote:I was referring to Polymorph Other, that as far as I understand truely turns one creature to the other one with all relevant powers.
"The polymorphed creature acquires the form and physical abilities of the creature it has been polymorphed into, while retaining its own mind. Form includes natural Armor Class (that due to skin toughness, but not due to quickness, magical nature, etc.), physical movement abilities (walking, swimming, flight with wings but not plane shifting, blinking, teleporting etc.), and attack routines (claw/claw/bite, swoop, rake, constriction but not petrification, breath weapons, energy drains, etc.)"
The Test is comprised of three main sections. First, there are three tests that require the mage to use their wits, without magic alone. Second is a test involving someone they love. Finally, there is a test against a greater adversary, someone from the apprentice's fears.BishGada wrote:I didn't know that about the test. There is no written part, I'm afraid.
