Vic has breakfast, runs over his spells in his mind, and suits up.

"Back to that trail we were following yesterday?"

Freddy and Candy volunteer to operate the drawbridge for Vic and his companions. When the group approach the drawbridge the badger makes a fuss, coughing noisily, and Isaril descends from the watchtower. The badger settles down and trails the druid. Israil pats his bow and nods. He's ready.

Isaril follows Val and quickly catches up with him. The badger sprints to keep up.

Vic will try to be in the middle of the marching order.

"Ok, no distractions this time!"

Isaril slows, pausing occasionally, to follow tracks to the north. (elven) "Villagers heading north; lots of them, including many halflings." He adds, "Later many small creatures, goblins, accompanied by large dogs went south towards the village. But some of the goblin tracks, heading north, are older; made before the villagers' tracks."

After a mile or so the forest parts to reveal a gaping cave mouth on the south face of a rocky hill topped with pine trees. The otherwise silent elf says, (elven) "Wait here! Rest!" and heads off with the badger to circle the hill. Before the party have finished a short rest Isaril returns. He says, (elven) "West, at the base of the hill is a narrow tunnel into which a stream flows. That way, east, is a dry tunnel that gently slopes downwards." He looks at Val, (elven) "Tunnels east and west are tight. Plenty room for goblins, but maybe the big man would get stuck."

The yawning cave mouth ahead, intially thirty feet wide, narrows to twelve feet wide and twenty feet high.

What next?

Unbar looks to Vic questioningly "I don't suppose any of what he said was where we can find the villagers was it?" he asks hopefully

Vic will translate everything as it is spoken, both ways.

"I think we need to find the villagers and make sure they are secure at least. If not to send them back to town."

He looks in the directions.

"Then we take care of the other potential threats."

Retcon on my post
------------
Unbar listens gravely as Vic translates as Isaril speaks. Addressing the wild elf he asks "The villagers, do their tracks lead into this hill? If so, then follow we must."

When translated Isaril nods. He adds, "Other things have been here too. Goblins. Big wolves: like the ones we found in the village. Something larger too. Maybe an orc but it's much harder to read. Very over-troden."

Vic will stay between two of the stronger team mates.

Watching for anything suspicious.

With Val and Isaril first, followed by Vic and Unbar, the foursome approach the yawning cave mouth, intially thirty feet wide, narrowing to twelve feet wide and into utter darkness..
The badger has been left some distance behind but still dashes gamely after the heroes.

Just to check, can everyone see in the dark?

Vic has 60' Darkvision.
=======================
Before the others step foot into the cave he will stop them.

"Hold on a moment!" He points out the twigs and things.
