The ladder is passed down and as Tabbi and Bryce enter, Galan notices something odd about the south wall of the pit. the investigation quickly turns up a secret door!

Tabbi and Bryce continue their search and in short order they deem it free of other hidden secrets or hazards. It doesn't take long after that for Zafron to pound the poisoned stakes down into uselessness.

the red S indicates a secret door in the pit

"Good Bryce and Tabbi,: says Zafron. "Bryce can you figure out how the secret door opens?"

"I suggest we investigate where this secret door lead towards."

Bryce fiddles around for a bit and finds that one need only press the false rock face, which swings open into the wall. The new portal reveals a short 10 ft passage which leads to a set of descending stairs, 20 feet of stone floor and another 90 degree turn to a second set of stairs...

"Well, well... secret passage in the pit... the only reason I could think why not follow it right now is if you want to clear the dungeon floor by floor, and this pit seems to go to a lower level." Galan asks for council with the group.

"I think this is the fortuitous fall, after the first two pits have led us here. It is even on the wall. I think we should proceed through the pit"
Van will voice his opinion from behind the last door.

"Agreed Van", let's proceed through the pit.

Bryce takes the discussion as direction and proceeds to poke and search the walls and floor for traps or sliding stonework. He calls all clear for the stairs and the next 20 feet to the turn. Standing above the stairs that head off west he scratches his chin. Hmm... foggy up ahead. Seems there is some kind of cloudy gas lying in the lower part of the stairwell here. Anyone joining him can see a pale green gas filling the stairwell that leads westward.

Van doesn't have a wind spell ready, but could he employ his engineering skills to rig up a fan with a blanket and his ladder or weapons?

Van assesses the situation and thinks he might be able to create a manual fan, but there is another consideration. let me get a wis check

Van realizes that the area where the gas has settled is lower and seems to have no exit aside from a closed door. Stirring, fanning or blowing the gas will likely cause it to billow up into the hallway where Bryce is currently and not dissipate it

"Do you have a torch to try and burn it off?" He clears his throat. "You should probably throw it from around the corner though."

He chuckles.

"Unlike that time on the Dinosaur Island.... you didnt have a beard or eyebrows for a month!"

"Anything in the riddle that might give clue regarding this gas?" Galan asks.

[Not that was mentioned directly, although some parts may be up to interpretation. Is Galan observing thr gas directly or remaining in the hall above the pit?]

Zafron will move up. Is the gas over Zafron head if he would walk in it?
