Re: Brainstorming
Complete non-sequitur, but I happened to have my digital camera out this morning, and the item pictured below was near at hand, so I figured I'd snap a few photos and post them.
This one of my knives, one which would be completely at home in Martin's hip (in fact, it appears in his portrait).
Curt Jester dagger (link) 1

Curt Jester dagger (link) 3
The knife was made by a local artist named Lars Lunde. The jester's head crossguard and crescent moon pommel are cast bronze. The handle is wrapped in suede. The blade is 12.25 inches long and double edged, and the overall length of the knife is 20". I'm not sure whether you will be able to see this, but the little bells hanging from the points of his hat are skulls.

Re: Brainstorming
If Martin takes the dagger, use your knife and its description, as it's very appropriate.

Re: Brainstorming
I'll kind of be at camp, too from 8/7 to 8/15. Actually I'll be at War.
It's time for the Pennsic War, when SCA folk from around the world gather in the Debatable Lands (a.k.a. western Pennsylvania) to aid the East Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom in their battle to determine ownership of the city of Pittsburgh (it goes to the loser, by the way).
The Pennsic War is the biggest event of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a world-wide medieval recreation group with about 30,000 members. Pennsic draws ten to twelve thousand participants and features daily battles with thousands of armored fighters, daily classes in medieval arts and sciences for those less martially inclined, fencing, archery, music, drama, and parties of all sorts. Participants live in modern or period tents for a week or more, and go about in medieval garb the entire time.
Go to youtube and search "Pennsic Field Battle" for some amazing videos.

Re: Brainstorming
"....let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings: How some have been deposed, some slain in war, Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed, Some poisoned by their wives, some sleeping killed, All murdered -- for within the hollow crown that rounds the mortal temples of a king keeps Death his court,"
Today our dog has passed. She fell ill with the "Bloat" a not uncommon ailment among deep chested dogs. We reacted in time and she survived surgery but alas, for all that was done, for all her miraculous recovery, a blood clot took her in the night.... The night before she was to be returned to us.
Our beloved Doberman, Bonnie is dead.
We will miss her terribly.

Sorry to hear that.
All dogs got to Heaven. You'll see her again.

Re: Brainstorming
I believe it is time to put a lid on this game. All posting has come to a standstill, Wumbo is unable to continue playing due to computer problems, Stik and Bryant will be gone for about a week or so, then Stik's game will begin.
So, lets just say that is was fun while it lasted. Good gaming everyone, and at least we can say that we got gaming going again for Planet.
I'll lock up the game, and if further down the line, folks want to open it up and continue once again, just contact me.

Re: Brainstorming
Just do me one favor, LWW, and tell me that you are not ending your game so that people can play in mine.
I would never dream of doing that to you.
In fact, I was even hesitant to start a game at this point, in case anyone got the impression that mine was an alternative to yours.
[IC] Martin kicks at the ground as he trudges away, hanging his head, hands jammed into side pockets. "I was just starting to have FUN..." [/IC]

You wish.

It's like I said, no one has posted a thing about taking treasure, trying to solve the puzzle on the door or letting me know in any way how the party is continuing on. With you and Bryant being gone for a week, Wumbo not being able to post, that leaves only Kafen and Kaber.
So.......................I'll unlock the game thread, but please try and post something before going off to camp. I know Bryant said his character was "looking at the door", but that's not trying to solve the puzzle.

Re: Brainstorming
NPC the inactive ones, it would not be too hard.
