That works for me.

In other news, I've been working on the quests in the starter town. Some of them, I think, are turning out to be pretty interesting so far. Some are more dangerous or longer than others. Some will earn you appreciation from some groups, and dislike from others (if you help Group A, you may cheese off Group B, for instance).

Of course, being a sandbox game, you guys can do any quest you want, even ignoring all of the starters. You can choose to go somewhere else and do something else. You can make up your own quest. Just so long as you actually adventure...the game would get pretty boring if you all just became waitresses at the local inn and tried to live off tips.

My primary goal for the first arc is just to get you guys up to level 3. At level 3, you are no longer considered amateurs. Hopefully you all live long enough to reach it!

I'm pretty excited for this game. I can't wait to get started.

From an earlier post:

Remember when purchasing equipment to keep in mind where everything goes. A common thing I see often in character creation is for the player to not purchase any packs, sacks, pouches, etc., leaving everything just kind of floating in the ether.

When you're done with everything, send me your character sheet via email. If I approve it, I'll add your completed stat block to the Character Stats thread and unlock the Character Description thread so you can post your character's description and picture (if you have one).

If there's something wrong, something missing, or I have some questions about it, we'll converse over email until everyone's satisfied.

These are things your character sheet needs to include:
Character's name, race, gender, class (kit, if any), age, alignment, height and weight.
Ability scores (modified for race and age, if necessary)
Weapon and nonweapon proficiencies, as well as languages, chosen.
Spells chosen, if applicable.
Equipment and money, and where you keep all of it
Appearance, personality, motivation, and history

That's really it. Don't worry about things like saving throws, armor class, and what have you, because I can figure that kind of stuff on my own.

Yeah...I relocked that thread for a reason. You're not supposed to add your character description to the Character Description thread until after I've approved your character. Laughing about it, and flaunting how you can undermine me with your admin abilities just seems a bit too much.

Once everything is done, email the entire character sheet to me. If approved, the character is added to the roster and you can begin play. If not, I'll tell you what's wrong or what is needed, and adjustments are made.

You guys are also supposed to submit your character sheet wholly, not in small bits and pieces over the last couple of weeks, as both you and Nuke have been doing. This makes my job much more harder, because now when I finally do get the last part, I have half a dozen PMs to sift through in order to approve the character.

I suppose next time I do this, I need to be even clearer on my instructions. Maybe include lots of bold and red font?

Anyway, you can read about elves some here in the Lost Souls Handbook thread (scroll down a bit to reach elves). You may also want to read a bit about Hashadeth (again, scroll down a bit), as most of the elves on the islands are from there (although your character is not required to be; if your character is from another island, you may wish to read up on that one instead to get an idea of what kind of culture she grew up in).

Beyond that...if you have any questions I can try to answer them, and I'm open to hearing suggestions, as well.

I didn't say 'dozens.' I said 'half a dozen,' which means six. And I was including Nuke's PMs in that number, as well.

And really, it's not even a big deal. I was just kind of miffed that nobody is following instructions. I wasn't even going to say anything about it, but that aforementioned comment set me off.

Switching to another subject, I wanted to bring up how this game will begin. My idea was just to put you all in the same inn and let things go from there. Kind of cliche, I realize...but it seems the simplest way to throw you all together. There would be a number of jobs available from the various patrons of the place, that the party can choose from. Or they can come up with their own quest, if they want. That's the beauty of a sandbox.

However, that method doesn't always work. Especially if your characters aren't very personable or friendly. I've had this method backfire on me in the past, where I put everyone in a tavern, and then everyone just sat alone, nursing drinks and not talking to each other.

So if you think this scenario might not work out for your character, let me know, and I'll see if I can tweak things. Just remember; the other PCs are not necessarily going to accept you on virtue of you being a PC alone. If your character is shy or overly abrasive, considering toning those aspects down a bit, at least until you get established into the group. Or failing that, let the rest of know how your character is, so we can make adjustments (if your character is too shy to talk to the other PCs, then maybe one of the other PCs can go talk to her instead).

You don't want to write yourself into a corner by pissing off the other PCs. Remember that this is a team-oriented game, and while the PCs are not required to get along all of the time, they do have to at least tolerate each other enough to work together.

If all possible, I'd like the beginning of this game to go fairly smoothly without anyone being forced to break character in order to make it happen. So, if you foresee any possible problems, let me know and we'll see if we can find a way to work around them.

That reminds me, how do you pronounce Areilon? I ask for my own personal use, as I've found myself stumbling over that name when speaking it aloud.

"Ar-ei-lon" Is the closest I can find in my head, Think of "R-e-lon".
