Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
"Thank you, yes. What's your cousin's name by the way?" Jerry replies with a glance at the stage area, wondering just how long it was going to be before the Reg Gypsy appeared and what sort of stuff she performed. "Nonsense, you're not rambling at all. You're just being good company and being nice to a newcomer that can hardly understand anything said by anyone else in the room. Are there any priesthoods in this town? And, to any your question, I would end the creature and give it peace by my own choice, but it is far beyond my abilities just now. Anyway, when you said that Sithicus was cold, how much lower are the temperatures than here?"

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
My cousin's name is Serath. Merrick searches the room quickly snd looks a little puzzled. She is usually here early, but she has some time yet. She typically starts right at sundown. She plays music, and is very talented. Why she has even played in the festival here and become a member of the Harmonic Hall. he said with a hint of pride. Priesthoods? Nothing like that here. There is a temple in Skald, but from the little I understand it is a very generic place devoted to the idea of life and goodness rather than dedicated to any one diety... I wish you luck in your endeavor, one less evil to worry about is always good for the world.
He seems momentarily confused at the last question. Temperature? Oh, no I meant cold socially. he shrugs in a resigned manner. Elven society. as if that explained everything. Catching the look on her face he continued. They're not terribly... generous with humans there... or any other than 'pure' elves... the Silvanesti are especially aloof... he finishes glumly.

"Some things don't change then," replies Jerry, and settles down to wait for the performer.
She has a few casual looks around the round while waiting.

Jerry looks around, and realizes her light hair and slender build are quite common arouns here; something that will hopefully help her blend in. So if you are new in town I presume you are staying here? Have you had. a chance to look around Harmonia at all yet?
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
"I am staying here, yes. But no, I haven't been able to look round yet," Jerry smiles at her table-mate. "Why, Merrick, was that an offer to show me around? If yes, I would gratefully accept. And if events transpire to prevent that, then that's the way things are sometime," she finishes, leaving the door open in case she'd misunderstood."

The dark-haired half-elf shrugs a little uncomfortably, but a small smile begins at the corner of his mouth. Well, I suppose it’s a safe bet that you don’t have any plans since you didn’t plan on coming to Harmonia. The grin widens a little, And you might find yourself in need of a translator… he glances around almost bashfully, obviously not very socially adept. It would be my pleasure to offer my services as a tour-guide.

"Thank you, Merrin, that's kind of you. I would like that," says Jerry, looking into his eyes. "What would you expect in recompense for your time and effort?" she delivers with a disarming smile, trying her best to avoid either insult or misunderstandings.

He clears his throat quietly and blushes just the faintest bit. Nothing but the pleasure of your company and a good conversation. he says, taking another sip. There are precious few others around with which I can talk magic... and even fewer half-elves... much less such an attractive one I have a legitimate excuse to hang around. he finishes quietly with a grin.

"Well, that's alright then. Sound like a great arrangement, thank you," she replies, offering him her hand and smiling broadly. She is starting to like Merrick. "So where do you stay in this town? What should I see in the town," and, in a much, much quieter voice, "What spells do you know? Maybe we can learn from each other."

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
He takes her hand, lightly kissing the back. I am currently renting a room from a couple nearby, I fear. I have yet to find a permanent residence in town... I've been kind of biding my time, but I think I have decided to stay in Harmonia for the time being. The best thing to see in town is the Festival. They hold it every weekend, but sadly it was just last night so it will be another week before you get the chance. We could still walk through the Amphitheatre, it's magnificent and as old as the town itself. The Harmonic Hall is nice, it's the bard college here in town. The whirling bridge is interesting if you're into that sort of architecture. The Meistersinger's Mansion is fantastic, but you need an invitation except on 'public days'. South Hill has some very impressive mansions and manor houses, which can be fun to just gawk at... What sort of things do you enjoy doing? When she asks about magic he tenses up a little, and there is a long pause before he responds. I know a few... he says cautiously, but his manner relaxes a little. I'm sorry. You outlanders seem to all find trading spells such a casual thing... I'm afraid most casters here are not quite so... 'free' with their studies... I have some protection magic and some for divination and studies... and it's always prudent to have some offensive magic when traveling outside of town...

""Is the room you're renting much cheaper than here? And does it have a bath?" Jerry asks in all seriousness.
"I enjoy seeing new things, meeting new people and spreading the Art," the priestess answers. "Is there a reason why the people here are so reticent? And to name one from each of those categories, I can do: Armour, Detect Magic and Colour Spray. What would you offer as an exchange?"

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
It is cheaper, but there is no bath. I'm staying with a family whose son went missing some years ago. They just wanted some company and I needed a room. They only had the one room to let. For the magic, people don't trust it, and they don't understand it. The big issue is that they don't want to. They'd rather keep their heads down and simply go on with life as it is. They love their music, and I must admit that I find it intoxicating. Her final remark puts him off a bit. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I do enjoy discussing the art and learning, but trading spells is... well it's a touchy subject for most magic users. I was fairly shocked when the other new arrivals seemed willing to... especially after only just meeting... He goes quiet as he looks around the common area.

"It's fine. Well, when we find a suitable time, I'm happy to teach you one, even if you don't want to do the same," She smiles and pats his arm. "Now, don't fret, it's fine. Any idea how long til the show's going to start?"

Actually, it should be any minute now, but I haven't seen the bard... I wonder if she is waiting to make a dramatic entrance...
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
"I hope she makes it," comments Jerry. "Anyway, if I need to make some coin, as in earn it, what options do I have?"
