Van will look for any sign of magic use. Magical scorch marks and other such sign. Checking the tree roots and tree trunk for hits (magic missle and such.
Will also look for dropped items. Just keeping an eye out for signs of a struggle- classic "I'm helping!" sort of milling about.
Need any rolls for that?

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Linar starts to encourage the civilians to by-pass the uprooted tree at what seems to be a safe distance, say 10 yards, all going clockwise around it.
Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
"Trolls... If no one else will, I'll search the lair.. ". Garroth hops down and begins nosing around.. (...fortunately trolls are large so there should be room for a Minotaur..)
Ooc: do I roll to search or the DM?

"Garroth, you great fool, this is not your problem. You already have a job to do," Boyd hisses, frustrated.
"No matter where you go, there you are."

"Hey Garroth, do it after we've got the civilians safe, huh?" suggests Linar in his best imitation of a reasonable voice, adding, "We, including you, did promise."
Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Garroth considers. "Ok... right you are... we check it on the way back then.. "
Garroth goes strip some branches away sonthe civilians can easily step over the tree without having to
Leave the road and then leads them onwards..

[Ausie. If it is a search for secret doors, the DM rolls. If it is a simple investigation of the area, the player rolls, but I’ll need to let you know which check would be applicable for an investigation depending on the situation]
[Sol: no rolls needed for that this time]
Van examines the area as best he can, but sees no obvious signs of magic. It is impossible to say whether the fire was started magically or with more normal means. He also looks about for any little things lying about, but doesn’t spot anything of interest.
Linar begins to direct the civilians around the tree as Garroth hops down into the hole. The dank earth and darkness envelop him, and he can see that small passages lead down into the earth, one crossing the road, the other moving southwest. Boyd and Linar call down, and the Minotaur relents in his search, climbing back out without too much trouble. Before long the group are past the tree and ready to continue southward.
Taking up [presumably? Unless anyone objects] the same positions as before, they make their way along the road.
[Did anyone have anything they wanted to do before nightfall? Otherwise I’ll put that post up next]

Van is interested in the spellswap. And maybe line something up better for the group's protection for he next day.
"You've been a good pupil, Linar! Color spray catches my interest... Anything in my book- as brief as it is- interest you?"

Linar actually laughs, "Thanks. It's mages like you that make mages like me be above average." He smiles to show that he meant it in jest. (How it's received is another matter. The drow's judgement of social niceties was relatively poor.)
"You need to show it to me first. Last time I tried to look, you went to sleep instead."

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Shortly after the downed tree the road bears southeast at a shallow angle, but otherwise doesn’t change. The day stretches on, and their passage seems to disturb little in the forest. Now and again the gentle rush of wind rising through the trees carries the scent of forest creatures to the snouts of boar and Minotaur, or the rustle of animals to the ears of the elves. The rest of the day passes peacefully, almost tranquil in the natural simplicity of forest life. As the light wanes the road seems to curve eastward, and a smaller road splits to run south. To the south side of the fork lies a partially cleared area, wide enough for a half-dozen carts and with as many pits surrounded by circles of assembled stones. There is plenty of evidence that the area has been used many times as a camp, and dried wood lies already stacked under a makeshift shelter on one side.
This is the halfway point. Eariel announces. The cleared area there is where most of our troops stop for the night when traveling north to Thel Jeers or far to the East towards Lunaflon. It’s one good day’s march south to Bordertown from here. She directs Hew and Tag to help the civilians get set up for the night.

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Linar suggests, "We'll use quite a bit of firewood in the night. Perhaps we should gather up more fallen wood while it's still light."
When Van is receptive, the dark elf says, "OK, show me your book then?"

"My sense of adventure comes later, after these helpless villagers get to safety. Or have you forgotten about them?"ausie wrote:"Where's your sense of adventure, fearless Boyd.. ?"
"And another thing," Boyd says, standing tall in his stirrups but still not even close to Garroth's height, but glaring nonetheless. "You call my courage into question again, veal chop, and you will be looking up at me from the ground."
"No matter where you go, there you are."
Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Backpostung: Garroth Willpower Check [1d20] = 10 With Boyd's reference to Veal Chop, Garroth's eyes glaze over and his knuckles tighten... then after a few moments he relaxes and laughs it off.. "Touché my friend, you are right, it was badly behaved of me to do so... but a warning... you touched a nerve too... "
Current: "The camp looks welcome enough.. I'll do a circumnavigation out to 200 yards and search for signs of danger.. while you all set up.. " (monster tracks, scent, etc.)
Tracking Check [1d20] = 10
