"Tabellaria, eh? I believe accomodation can be made. Absent northern threat, the garrison is deployed elsewhere, yet fealty is still owed and the forms obeyed. The commander sends reports to the capital. Your report can be included.
"As to your other needs, there are two inns in town, and a bath house, and several eateries, if you have coin, and the Gildam Mercenarii hostel if you do not."
Vitelli turns to Angel. "Most visitors surrender arms at the gate - anything bigger than a dagger, that is. Your status as mercenarii, and your traveling companion's endorsement earn you dispensation. But too many swords upset the status quo."

"Bathhouse? Bathhouse!? I will see you all later!" Bastian says with a self-possessed smile. He jingles his coin purse just to make sure that he has enough coin to pay for the services. If nothing else, perhaps he could bless some of the spirits they use in the bathhouse. Hot water! Oh, wonderous joys of the Empire!!!!

"Indeed a Bathhouse would good." Angel glances to the group, smiling at Bastians sudden departure. "As for weapons, you have my word there will be no violence from this group. We have seen enough."
"Again thank you Vitelli. I think an inn would be a nice change. I will visit the Gildam Mercenarii however." She smiles, "I will take Daos's body to the Temple, we should do that first, could you direct me Sir?" she asks man, glancing at Liri. "Would you accompany me Liri?"

"Of course I will" Liri smiles at Angel. "And as a sign of my good faith, I will leave my sword here, until we have found quarters in town and move our things there" she tells Vitelli. She deposits her sword by her bedroll before they gather up Daos's body.

"My sword remains in place, I trust you understand?" Angel smiles, turning around to face Elias and Papa,
"Could you stay with Master Fraso? At least till we return."
With that she reverently walks to the dead Half Elves body.

Vitelli smiles warmly. "No need to leave weapons here. Bring them to your lodging, else they may get stolen while you are away. And I shall requisition a hand-cart for conveying your comrade, and a guide to show you to the temple and wherever else you need to go." While he speaks, his clerk continues making notes.
"Now if there is nothing else, I must make report."

"Thank you." Angel nods, "No there is nothing else." She waits quietly for the hand cart.

"Yes, thank you very much" Liri adds, smiling warmly at Vitelli.
While they wait, she enjoys the quiet morning air, squinting in the sun (if there is any) and stretching out her long limbs.

Angel watches Liri out of the Corner of her eye, saying nothing.

The hand cart arrives shortly after Vitelli leaves, wheeled up by a boy of about thirteen years, barely big enough to manage it empty. He drops the cart and says, by way of introduction: "Luccio Capello. I was told to deliver you this cart and to lead you to the temple and anywhere else you need to go this morning."
He says no more, and stands in the shade while Daos' body is loaded onto the cart and tied down, then heads out of the courtyard, through the gateway and along a short road flanked by high walls then through another gate and into the village proper, leading your whole group like a mother duck with her ducklings.
There is a market square immediately inside the gate spread out on both sides of a long wide roadway leading due north through the town. "Bath houses are at the southeast and southwest corners, just inside the wall," Luccio says, and a moment later, pointing to either side of the road as you pass through the square: "There are the inns. Gildam Mercenarii is behind the inn on the east, making adjacent pub a merc bar by default. Chief agent is called Baratrus. Do not drink with him.
"Most anything needed may obtained in the market square or adjacent merchants. I may be of assistance in finding other needful items not easily found."

"The temple," Luccio says, as if it were necessary, as your group stops in a courtyard in front of a large stone building. The doors into the temple are twice the height of a man and made of bronze, carved with a design of spears and shields. The doorway is surmounted by a marble statue of Aerdus, and flanked by granite statues of Emdalus and Mechanus. The boy climbs the steps to the big doors and knocks with a stick hanging from one side of the doorway. The door is opened by an elderly priest wearing a leather apron over his tunic. The man is not of large stature, but his arms are quite well-muscled for a man his age, and his rough hands, like his apron, are dusty.
He walks out into the yard and greets each of your group, although he does pause in front of...in front of...Fraso, and then moves on to Hiric without saying anything. "Funeral rites are said every third day, as needed. We have one decedent presently awaiting rites, which are scheduled for tomorrow at sunset. You may add to tomorrow's pyre, if it suits you, providing only nominal donation for additional wood needed for a second body. Or you may purchase a pyre tonight."

"I believe we can wait until tomorrow." Angel says with a frown as she pushes the cart to the entrance, bowing to the Priest and making a simple gesture at the statue of Emdalus.
"A nominal donation would be? And I trust the ceremony would be done with the proper accord, as befitting one who fell in battle." She looks to Fraso before stepping back.
Her eyes then go to the Merc bar, she never really belonged there anyway.

"The deceased partly had elven blood, will it be possible to add a few personal words at the ceremony, as it is customary among my poeple?" Liri asks the priest with a sad smile.

The old priest narrows his eyes at Angel's question, but his tone is kindly. "Most dead we send off are soldiers or former soldiers. Appropriate ritual will be provided.
"And you may say whatever words you like, firstborn, provided they are respectful.
"Return at sundown tomorrow, please."

"Yes, we will." Angel adds, "And please accept my apologizes, I was only looking out for my friend."
