Poster The_Muffin_Man and myself were recently playing in the Shadows of the Dark game until the plug was pulled. There was talk of getting a module-based ring going if others were interested.

I've never really done a PBMB game before a few weeks ago but I will say that I would be more than willing to return DM duties after the first module or two if someone would have us! I know we both have first level (2ed) characters already rolled up from the Shadows game so low-level would be the easiest to kick off. Hopefully a few more would also like to join?

Well Brax would be up for it, of course.

Sure, I'm in. But there are questions:

1.) Who will be the first DM?
2.) Which module should we start with?
3.) What setting should we set the module in?

I think we should choose a module that none of the players have experienced before. Outside of Pod-Caverns and Dragons of Despair, the only module I've ever played in was Cleric's Challenge, so whatever we choose is likely going to be unspoiled by me.

I'm in as well. Kim still waits to come to life.

But I'm not going to be first DM. I was lousy at it in the past. Though I have grown, I don't feel up to the challenge to take on a group of experienced players.

1. DM, I'll do it, but I'm happy for Jaded to take the reigns if he so desires.
2. Module, world is your oyster, really.
3. The Players were in Greyhawk before...

Hmm...

So...Tomb of Horrors, anyone? It's the perfect adventure for low-level adventurers trying to get their feet wet.

Err, I mean...

:D

Never Played it, I have it in PDF format somewhere, a little advanced isnt it?

Umm...heh, yeah. It's kind of infamous. I was sort of making a joke. Tomb of Horrors is well known for being a massive deathtrap. There are stories of parties wiping out before even reaching the first room.

I was being subtle! Yes, I've heard. I guess a City Based Adventure would be best... Hmmm

As far as setting, I'll play wherever. I have the most experience in Forgotten Realms and Mystara. As far as official modules that I have played, I've DM'ed the Night Below, Fighter's and Cleric's challenges, working through Keep on the Borderlands right now, annnd that's about it! The rest were randoms from Dragon or ones that came with the campaign setting boxes.

When you said Tomb of Horrors my heart lept...despite the grizzly reputation, it's definitely an adventure I'd love to try my hand at someday.

I've got the most experiance in Forgotten Realms and Mystara as well. Searos seems like a character who would work great being either from Zhentil Keep or one of the monster-run cities of Glantri.

Isn't Tomb of Horrors the one with two doors, one a Sphere of Annihilation, and the other a one-way teleporter? That sounds more like an adventure where you should have 5 characters rolled up and when the first one goes bye-bye, the one that *poit!* into the game.

Also, while I've only tried to DM a couple of times, I won't really be available to do it since I'm starting my first year of law school in like 6 weeks.

Okay then. How about...(and these are just suggestions)

Against the Cult of the Reptile God? It's Greyhawk, and was apparently rated the 19th best adventure ever written. It's designed for 1E, so should be easy to convert.

Or...

The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh? It was ranked the 27th greatest adventure ever written, also Greyhawk, and also 1E.

These two are what I've been able to find through internet searches, at any rate.

Let me see what I can do on that those, I believe I have them both in PDF.

The long campaign I've played in the late 80s was set on the Moonshae Isles of the Forgotten Realms, but I have no idea if my DM ran modules or made everything up, using just the world setting for ideas.

There is a module in Forgotten Realms called "Moonshae."

Here's a link to a description: Moonshae
