Does the item mean anything to Nocturno? Religion or History maybe?

Nocturno ponders the amber encased Dragon statuette. The orcs indicated there was a hidden piece to the magic item they sought here in the lost Dwarven city. He recalls the journal they found in the Basilisk's cave, which detailed the various items and rites required to assemble the magical item in order to save the area from Ossunin's designs.

This statuette could be the 'figurehead' piece...
Excerpt from the journal:

-Curled figure, Head shaped like a snake or something, (reference poor) embracing an object (No details! Why!?). Platinum pins (on straps?), should attach to Bar...
-Power source; Orb? VERY powerful object, designed to fit in coil? arms? of Snake body? Golden color

Though the statuette is still trapped in this amber ball.

So far the party has collected the
-forearm length Bar
-the egg shaped pommel

They know the 'golden ball of energy' is the Amber Sphere that powers Lesoger's defenses, and will have to try to steal or convince the city to let them use it.

Katten learned and told the others that the 'formless beast' is a shape shifting creature from the Black Swamp across the Yew river to the Northwest. It is the 'link'

Findalsip will call to Jordan and Katten: "If you don't mind, keep an eye on the statues. Detect life, Detect polymorph, detect magic, something, anything, but these statues aren't making me feel comfortable. They are a tad too lifelike for my sensibilities. I am going to look further in the next room. I am not sure about the orb that was seen and if the removal of it from its spot will trigger a trap or spell. We must be on guard." Once he sees the gnome and ranger and wolf moving that way he will make his way farther into the other room.

“Nocturno, your help with watching the gargoyles or searching around would be useful if you have nothing else to do” Findalsip remarks.

Nocturno and Fin begin checking opposite sides at the edges of the chamber. The Dwarven construction is solid and relies heavily on the native stone. As they work their way towards the back they both note the narrow natural tunnel continuing into the dark. As they draw near, a voice like gravel issues from the tunnel.

[In undercommon]
Who disturbs this place? Allies of Silvershield?

Findalsip relies in Undercommon: " The Silvershields have long abandoned this place so we can't squarely be their allies. We also do not intend to desecrate it either. We would know your name that we be not strangers. I am Pisladnif and this is Onrutcon."

(OOC: Findalsip reverses the names because names have power and being careful with other Undercreatures, every name is an alias incase somebody squeals.)

There is a pause and the gravely voice speaks again in Undercommon. Mmm... so they have indeed. When the great collapse happened we feared they would not return, and so they have not; though their sacred artifact remains. Some, myself included, think the childer of those who fled have forgotten... 60 or so feet into the dark, the edge of a face pokes out from around a corner, considering the two. The half-face seems humanoid in nature, and about man-sized with large dark eyes. Svirfneiblin... hmm... and the other... too pale to be the Cursed Elves... far from the surface your friend has come... Yet... you may call me Eben... What brings you both to this hidden place? And your friends? I hear others beyond...

“Well, Eben, since you know of my kind you must know of our fascination with gemstones. I am always searching for new veins to explore for my kin. A Rocktender in Calladuran’s service. The others I think search for other things for which I know not the ultimate purpose of. I seek to understand the environs that of this area including those that dwell therein. I make notes of places that are suitable and unsuitable for my kin. How long have you been here ? Is there another way out? Are you trapped within these walls? Are some sort of sentinel? What is your purpose? Show yourself if you have no ill will, if you don’t mind.” Findalsip rattles off.

Nocturno will try to make himself looks less threatening, by backing away, hands away from weapons.

[They are still speaking undercommon at this point]

Rocktender... hmmm well... that seems well... The figure moves into view and takes a few casual steps forward. He stands a little over 4 feet in height, with gangly arms and legs for his frame but broad hands and feet with long digits. His eyes appear solid dark and seem to have no pupils. Yellowish skin and rusty brown hair are visible as well. In one hand he holds a mining pick.

Though he has never met one in person, Fin recognizes the creature immediately as a Pech; a creature native to the Elemental plane of Earth, that are typically good. Eben speaks again, No precious gems here, but some ores, granite, feldspar and quartz. We make our paths as we do, not unlike your kin in depth and intricacy. We came for security and to live here deep on your world. We avoided contact since coming here until the Silvershields and their people carved a bargain with us. We live nearby and guard this chamber from intrusion until the 'foretold' come to retrieve the figurehead. He lays one broad palm on the stone wall of the tunnel. Closing his eyes he speaks, Even still, the stone recalls that day when the figurehead was sealed up. After the crafting of the item and the dispelling of the Great Evil, Quethratrix, we were told each piece was scattered and protected. And so it was this portion of the artifact came here.

The Pech regards the High Elf again. Your friends... to be in this place, past the locks and vaults of Silvershield, it would seem they seek the figurehead... he suggests.

Looking to Nocturno he speaks haltingly in common. Well... meet, Sky Elf. I am Eben. What seeking at Silvershield's ruins?
