BishGada (Private thread) Labyrinth of Madness

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Are there flying undead creatures beside dracolich and ghost dragons? Animate dead monsters that had wings will let it fly?
Aside specters and such, i'm not aware of which all undead can fly.

-yeah the PSC is a valif source, we just have to make sure the spheres and accessibility is available. For instance, if there is only one source for a certain spell and it doesn't apply to Ke'Sha (like a god from another world he hasnt been to whose beliefs don't align eith his) then it is inaccessible.
example:
-Create ancient undead description in PSC says it is only bestowed by the god Mulhorandi of the Forgotten Realms and seems that the beliefs of the deceased matter greatly in the result. In addition it appears there is a lot of preservation required for the subject, so probably outside the scope of this one-shot anyway

I'll have to take some time to look through the other ones you describe in the July 2nd post. It's a lot

-It looks like you don't have access to the Healing sphere at all, so Regen Light wounds is out. The rest of the ones you have proposed for the swap out are good.

You are correct about the healing sphere. I got confused, not sure what made be believe I have minor access to it. Sorry.

No worries. It was probably because it is described as a necromantic effect (which all healing technically is and detects as necromancy under detect magic etc) but for priests they separate Necromantic and Healing spells into their own spheres

Hi,
We discussed using the trolls as monsterous zombies. Can we say that Ke'Sha collected enough of the trolls remains for that purpose once he have the spell memorized?
With the body they just found I thought of "speak with dead" to question him, then I thought to revive it and either have him as henchman of use him to be turned into a strong undead. The party doesn't have to know the details. :) So just reviving him can also serve to question him.

Yeah, he only needs a few fingers for the spell, we can say he easily collected thatbafter the fight.

He has decayed some and has been dead a while so it would take a Resurrection spell to bring him back. And then Ke'Sha would have to spend one full day recovering from casting that spell per hit dice of the deceased. So it would be possible, but problematic

Great. So Ke'Sha will start the hobby of collecting body parts. (I believe similar to barbarians :) )
Can Ke'Sha 'feel' how many hit dice the deceased had?

As a necromancer would it be reasonable to assume that Ke'Sha have items allowing collecting bodies similar to nowadays plastic bags, keeping the smell of decay in?

Hi,
So I slowly go over the spells of clerics from here (https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/All_Priest_Spells) which are mainly players handbook + priest spell compendium.

Since we are nearing a new day and need to consider the spells, I currently send a short(ish) list to verify if you approve, but I give you heads up that in few month (:) - yeah, I'm slow) it will be longer, and of more potent spells. (I'm only in the middle of level 3 :( )

I tried to be accurate about the spheres, but I might made mistake.

1. Augment psionics - https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Augment_ ... est_Spell) - can help Axid especially if he is depleted.
2. Bone bite - https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Bone_Bite_(Priest_Spell) - what I find good about it that even if I cast it only once every few days, statistically I should have nice amount of "bites" at hand. (max is 68).
3. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Chilling ... est_Spell) - well, it can be useful against disobedient undead.
4. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Crocodil ... est_Spell) - interesting tactical spell I might say.
5. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Free_Will_(Priest_Spell)
6. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Idea_(Priest_Spell)
7. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Mace_of_ ... est_Spell)
8. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Nymph%27 ... est_Spell) - Well... This spell is very strong and given by elven goddess so I'll see the point of not approving it. But if Ke'Sha goes naked, which he doesn't mind, he can kill instantly everyone that watches him. :) a disturbing scene...
9. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Revenance_(Priest_Spell)
10. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Rockburst_(Priest_Spell)
11. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Sight_wi ... est_Spell)
12. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Speak_wi ... est_Spell)
13. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Wood_Swo ... est_Spell)
14. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Armor_of ... est_Spell)
15. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Astaroth ... est_Spell) - It is not too useful for me, but Ke'Sha could sacrifice 5 people to have 19 INT, then revive then with raise dead and repeat the action every 3 months...
The benefit is not too much. 5 languages, 5 skills and immune to 1st level illusions.
16. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Boon_of_ ... est_Spell)
17. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Depress_ ... est_Spell)
18. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Detect_A ... est_Spell)
19. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Dictate_ ... est_Spell)
20. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Ela%27s_ ... est_Spell) - if you decide to let Jack go Ke'Sha would be able to replace him. :)
21. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Eyes_of_ ... est_Spell) - better version of spectral senses. Not sure if worth the 3rd level power.
22. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Find_Por ... est_Spell)
23. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Fostered ... est_Spell) - I know it is rare, and restricted, but due to the bond with the Quasit and pacts with evil gods, maybe Ke'Sha learned of it?
24. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Glowglory_(Priest_Spell) - as far as I understand if not doing any other spell casting you can hit with the beam once per round for 1rd/level. The radiation which is warmth and light last longer (1t/lvl)
25. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Haunted_ ... est_Spell) - might be niche but good against 1 spell caster and can be funny roleplaying it.
26. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Hold_Met ... est_Spell)
27. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Knight%2 ... est_Spell)
28. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Laughing ... est_Spell) - rare and good in nature, but it can replace sleeping, right?
29. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Life_Dra ... est_Spell) - it's in the complete book of necromancers so I think you allowed it.
30. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Mask_of_ ... est_Spell)
31. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Mirror_V ... est_Spell)
32. https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Moon_Bla ... est_Spell)

Well.. it turned out longer than I thought...

Thanks.

To help in the future, if it is only granted by one diety and that diety is a Good entity, they will not grant it to Ke'Sha.

Numbers 2-7, 14, 19, 21-23, 25, 26, 29, 30, are fine. Notes below:

1) is specific to the Duregar goddess, who would not grant it to those other than her followers

4) That's fine but it would affect your allies as well

8 ) Hanali is definitely not granting this spell to Ke'Sha

9) the cleric version of Revenance is a Drow spell. I much prefer keeping race specific spells to casters of those races. There is an interesting spell named "Hoar's Revenance" that I would allow. It is a lvl 6 necromancy spell.

10) Rockburst is a Dwarven spell granted by a Lawful Good diety. Not available to Ke'Sha

11) Sight Without Vision. I'm not sure what source this is. The link says "Planewalkers in Radiance (TIP)" i have no idea what that is from. I'm not currently allowing things not in the spell compendium or other official spaltbooks

12) granted by a Good Elven diety, so no

13) while not a race specific spell it is only granted by 2 good dieties, so that lets Ke'Sha out

15) Really elaborate setup requiring months of pre-prep in game. I think we are past the point of ret-conning things like this

16) Only granted by Tymora, a Good diety. She eould not provide it to Ke'Sha

17) Shevarash the elven diety is Chaotic Neutral so I suppose it is fine

18) Anuhr is a good diety so no.

20) this requires being a member of the church of Ela, which Ke'Sha is not

23) That's fine, he is so high level it is likely he has traveled extra-planarly if he wished, even unto Sigil.

24) Good Dwarven diety, no.

27) Only granted to "Priests of the Red Knight", which Ke'Sha is not

28) Eldath will not grant this to Ke'Sha

29) ... You actually currently have it memorized twice...

31) Lathander will not grant this to Ke'Sha

32) Selune and Sehanine Moonbow will not grant this to Ke'Sha

Regarging 4: close to the end of the spell description it is written: "Beings who observe the priest cast the spell are also immune to its effects." so I guess the tram is safe.

About 12: I accept your jury but in the slim chance we finish the labyrinth and continue with the characters, I think it is reasonable to search something similar as high priest of the lord of the dead. He is also the lord of ancient dead, right? ;)

29: It figures. *blush*

OK. Thanks.

I'll try to be ready with reasonable spell list for the next day focusing on talking with the body we found, and dominating undead to fill the ranks.

4) fair point, i missed that part

12) this is designed to be a one-shot, really. But if there is enough interest afterwards and I find a suitable 'puzzle dungeon' module I suppose it's not "Impossible"

29) it happens

Hi,
So I continued and found few more interesting spells, but I don't want to make it too troublesome and will wait until I have longer list (unless you prefer otherwise)

There is one exception of a very interesting spell if you will allow:
https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Assume_U ... est_Spell) - This is 4th level spell. Necro, from PSC, given by evil god (I learn from the previous session).
As far as I understand the user gain all abilities of the undead aside from raising minions if die by his power. If I get it right it also mean the undead special abilities, spell and spell-like abilities while forfeiting his own spells for the spell duration. At level 17th Ke'Sha can assume the form of ANY undead. (Undead table: https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Undead).
As undead Ke'Sha won't be able to cast his own spells, or try to take control of new undead, but I guess/hope it can keep the control of the undead he already controls. What do you think? Otherwise it would be a mess.
Also, it assume a lich form he can still use his own spells??

Thanks.

Mostly right, it would allow him to "...assume the form of any type of undead of 8 Hit Dice or less..." that he would be able to turn if he were 7 levels lower... so at level 10, yeah it qualifies for all undead on the turning chart. But the 8HD limitation means he cannot become a 9HD (Vampire, skeletal warrior, death knight) 10HD (Ghost, etc) or 11HD+ (Lich, etc). But other than that, yeah it looks pretty much right in his weelhouse ^_^ And he would certainly have the material component somewhere.

So controlling undead is one of his granted powers, he would not be able to actively control them while in the new form. I would say if he gave undead under his control an order before he changed then they would continue it until it was complete unless something disrupted them. But no ordering them to 'obey the creature i turn into' ;)

Arrr... I missed it! damn! I was so happy when I saw it.
Still it is a cool trick, and in the full list of undead that are nice properties even for lower HD. I'll have to check if it worth the effort.
Thanks.

BTW, if you want one day someone to take over Allahain, tell me. Between the two of us we will have a death march. Muhahaha. ;)
