The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

"So what do you all think about the tattoos? Should we all brand ourselves? You know what? Maybe we can check if the rings of the trolls or the serpent ring act differently on Axid, now that he has the mark. Also, Axid, do you feel some disorientation or like some one is monitoring you? I thought the master of this place could use the brands to watch over who goes down here."

[The trolls were not inspected for tattoos and the bodies were burned so the party doesn't know. The only other 'creatures' found so far were the black puddings, piles of bones and the dead body from the pit that has the 1st sigils on his arm. There has also been no indication of the enemy scrying on the party.]

(OOC: Thanks. I'm trying to role play the appearance of the sigil on Axid's arm and the suspicions if that's good thing or bad.)

“There so far seems to be nothing that is scrying me. No different feelings at all.” Axid registers the door closing and moves the lever again to reopen the door. He moves back to the rope to climb back up to the floor above.

Jag and Jack search the newly opened room, but after searching thoroughly it seems to be a dead-end.

Time is 2:42 PM, Moonday the 3rd of Reaping

Considering Jag and Jack to have done a full secret door search in the new room

It seems we have only dead ends remaining... perhaps we have missed something? Or the newly acquired sigil is of some significance. Allikhain Muses.

I have been tracking progress in the Mad like a Fox [Party Tactical Planning and tracking]

I'll update it again later today with the new discoveries. That channel can also be used by the players to keep notes or for tactical planning

"If the sigil had significance it might explain why our 'guest' had backtracked after being here." Ke'Sha agrees. 'Pity he has only one sigil... He might not provide much information.' he thinks to himself.

Jag wants to think about the sigil becoming a tattoo. As in, is there a history of other dungeons in the past that required such markings to continue? Or markings like this that would allow access to things? Can he recall any significant drawbacks to allowing an evil dungeon mark him?
Probably drawing from his past adventuring, and maybe some history knowledge.

[Accepting a magically generated marking like this could indeed be beneficial or it could be problematic. The most popular instance in the world of similar things would be the Arcane Tattoos made by the Red Wizards of Thay. They can give a person special abilities or restrictions, allow or prevent certain kinds of access, etc. However, in Curse of the Azure Bonds, the tattoos forced on pcs cause them to do bad things... so it could be good, bad or a mix of both. Only the one who created it knows...]

(OOC: Ke'Sha will reluctantly follows the other's lead. He will act reluctant both if they choose to take it or not. :)
But seriously from your description it make sense that the sigils are necessary but might come with a cost. I suggest if you all agree just to have them and continue.

Axid chimes in: "Even though there is a tingle when you get the tattoo, it would possibly be wise for us all to get the mark. How much worse can things get? Other than the overt desire of a certain party member to make us his mindless minions."
