Re: Check In Everyone!
I have been really absent here for a while, and there were some big events in my life during that time. It started with me getting Covid four days after the last time I posted. That sent me to the doctor, who noticed my high blood pressure. That kicked off two months of various tests and ended with ...

Re: Personal News
Feeling better every day. Still hurts inside my chest when I have a big cough or sneeze, but that's because my sternum isn't completely healed yet, but everything else is good.
I haven't been doing a lot a lot of calligraphy lately, but I do have a couple of things in the pipeline.

Personal News
Every so often a life-changing event happens. I had one of those recently. Eight weeks ago, I had open heart surgery to bypass a blockage, well more than one blockage, to be honest. I am doing fine now, and all indications are that once my recovery is complete I will be better than I was before. My ...

Big happenings
Happy new year, all. Big happenings for me with the new year. As some here know, when I am not working or gaming, I participate in two medieval reenactments groups. One is the SCA - Society for Creative Anachronism, which is a well known, international group. But I also am a member of the Kingdom of...

Re: Movies
I'm usually late to the party on movies these days, so forgive me for this one. I just saw Free Guy.
It was awesome. If you haven't seen it, watch it tonight.

Re: Costumes at the D&D Table
I dressed all in black to DM the Castle Ravenloft module back in the late 80s. But I used to dress all in black a lot back in those days. And now.

Costumes at the D&D Table
It's a cliche - a bunch of D&D nerds sitting around the table dressed as their characters. I saw it pop up most recently on an episode of Married at First Sight, where one of the grooms is a D&D player. But in forty four years of playing, I have never sat at a table with anyone playing in co...

Re: Movies
You know how once in a great while a sequel comes out that is better than the original? I'm talking about movies like Aliens, and The Godfather: Part II, and Terminator 2. I have a new entry for the list. I watched the original and the sequel back to back yesterday, and I highly recommend Ghostbuste...

Movies are arts, right? Caught one last week that deserves a look. Love and Monsters. Movie takes place ten years after a catastrophe that has caused many species to mutate into monsters. Humans have been living in small numbers in scattered underground bunkers, communicating by HAM radio. Protagoni...

Re: Books - Good and Bad
Do comic books count? Well, I started the thread, so I say they do. I just finished the last compendium of The Walking Dead. Loved it. Now I am reading the first compendium of The Boys. Imagine a world where superheroes are real, and there are a lot of them. And they are managed by a large corporati...

Hero Forge
Hero Forge is a website that allows you to design and 3D print custom miniatures (in color, or unpainted, as you prefer). The minis aren't cheap, but the design portion of the site is free to use, so I've been playing around in it quite a bit lately. https://www.heroforge.com/ Here are a few example...

Re: Check In Everyone!
I've managed to avoid infection, and we even snuck in a vacation during the lull in October of 2021 (New Orleans again, and if anyone gets down there in the near future, hit me up for some restaurant recommendations. We found two new ones to add to the "Not To Be Missed" List: Central City...
