In addition to being a haunted attraction enthusiast (not the kind where a spirit supposedly resides for real) I'm also a big fan of the Halloween holiday as well. It is a month long celebration for me. I avoid any Halloween related television or movies all year until October starts. Three years ago we moved from a four-plex apartment that never drew any trick-or-treaters to a house that is right down the street from the elementary, middle and high schools of our hometown. So now instead of just decorating the inside for ourselves and our occasional guests we enjoy putting up stuff in the yard and on our house. Our collection of decorations for the outside has pretty much doubled every year since the move and I carve at least two pumpkins every year.
I was going to spend a bunch of money on a Hollywood type cool costume and enter a local contest this year (was thinking a Silver Surfer costume), but then blew my budget on cab fare home and admission price for seeing Roger Waters: the Wall 2013 concert film last Friday (very good film). Only have enough budget left to go to a haunted attraction with my brother this Saturday

. If I had young'uns to take trick-or-treating, I'd throw together a real cheap costume to go with them. Guess when Halloween actually rolls around I'll have to be content to making sure all the lights, decorations and props are working and handing out the candy while enjoying the trick-or-treaters costumes.
So, please leave out any descriptions of ritual animal sacrifices, substance influenced activities or bag snatching from the youngsters

, but how, big or small, do you and yours celebrate Halloween?
