1e or 2e.. Wizard eye and gaze attacks

In the 1e write up for the Wizard eye spell, nothing is mentioned about whether the eye's controller is affected if he looks upon a creature that has gaze attacks (vampire charming, beholders eye beams, etc). 2e though DOES mention it,
The caster is subject to any gaze attack met by the eye
.

How do YOU run it when you are gaming.

I would definitely have the gaze effect transfer. I would do the same for clairvoyance. If you're seeing it, you're vulnerable. Distance and magical means are no exception. I could see allowing for an "Improved Wizard Eye" that wouldn't allow harmful effects to trasnfer.

Gar-Yep, any gaze effect affects the wizard. Seems logical, fair, and as you said within the 2e spells description.
